“Great relaxing location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

First let me say that you are staying in Greece, in self catering accommodation so don't go expecting "The Ritz".

These apartments are cleaned every other day and the bedding is changed twice a week which is more than other places we have stayed in. The rooms are of a good size and the kitchen appliances run to a fridge, two ring electric hob, kettle and toaster.
I did find the shower frustrating as the tray did not seem to drain properly so you were stood in an inch of water whilst using it.

The pool is great, perfect for cooling off in, although the sun beds are a little on the uncomfortable side, but then again they all are.
The bar area is also good and well maintained, however when we went the food available was limited but they were only staying open another week after we had left.

The family that run these apartments are great, they are very welcoming and do their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They did try to put on a Cretan night but there was not enough take up to justify hiring the dancers, band etc. So they did put on a family BBQ instead which was good.

You are located about 10 minutes walk from the nearest bars and restaurants and you have to walk along the side of a main road but we did not find this a problem. We also found the food in the local restaurants to be exceptional local cuisine and could highly recommend the stifado.
The beach is also about a 10 minute walk away but we did find the best supermarket on the way which is far better stocked than the one across the road from the apartments.

All in all I would recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to have a good relaxing holiday, but only if you can get into the new apartments at the back of the complex.

“NICE POOL AND GARDENS, SHAME ABOUT NOISY ROAD AND HARD BEDS”

Having recently stayed for two weeks at these studios, we found the new blocks superior to old blocks. We were fortunate to be in the new blocks, which we found to be adequate, although lacking in selfcatering equipment. Noise from the E75 Motorway at night meant we could open the rear window at night time, and that combined with the noise of barking dogs, from a neighbouring property, and the hard beds meant a few sleepless night. A nice swimming pool and surrounding gardens, and a fantastic Greek night. A short walk down a path directly opposite the entrance, via olive groves and the windmills, leads to a well equipped Supermarket and Bike rental, pedal and motorbike, get their early to hire pedal bikes. Kostas Bar on the seafront, is very friendly and good food at reasonable prices, and has a laidback atmosphere. We found the Eanthia restaurant, although very clean, catered for the Scandinavian residents tastes, and did not provide truly Greek food, for that go to The Sunset Bar in Platanias, which has a great view and a superb Greek cuisine. The bakery turn right outside the studios, not left as all the signs say, round a dangerous lefthand bend, the best bakery is on the left, great cheese and spinach pies. The Mini Market opposite the studios is staffed by the most unhelpful people in Greece !!!

“read reviews before you book (cannot be guaranteed you will be in new block)”

Very disappointed in accommodation. Very dark, no window. electric socket between beds hanging out of wall. Only one socket in kitchen for toaster, kettle, hotplate, so lots of juggling going on. Bathroom, disgusting, shower tray took ages to disperse hence floor flooded everytime one took a shower making showering dangerous. , had to lay towels on the floor to soak water up. No privacy as patio area table and chairs right outside next doors bedroom window. Not nice for them or us. We were even more upset to find that people had booked 2-3 weeks prior to going paid a lot, lot less than us and were put in the new accommodation, which by all accounts were very very nice, and no complaints were voiced by them, they were very pleased with themselves. Don't be fooled by being told the earlier you book you will get the newer accommodation, because you won"t, the couple in the next room to us, stayed in the newer accommodation last year and were very happy, consequently booked for this year, only to find they were put in the old block. They were not best pleased and I don"t blame them.
On the plus side, I must say the pool is really very nice, kept clean, the gardens are beautiful. A very peaceful place to chill out.
IN SAYING ALL OF THIS, we just got on with out holiday, it is a great area to stay, found some really great Tavernas, GREAT FOOD,GREAT PEOPLE, weather was very very good.
Would i stay here again, sadly no, UNLESS i was guarenteed the new apartment. We don't want frills, tv or entertainment, we just want good basics.

“Great Holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2009

When we arrived at the pardalakis studios we went to the bar for a well deserved drink
and met other new arrivals,we all commented on how friendly and helpful the owners were. This was just the start of a great holiday.The.appts are basic but your not in them long and we was on the ground floor with a balcony. what more do you want .The food was very good and not over priced as was the drinks. The weekly greek night was brilliant it was a chance for everone to get together . The location of the appts meant you had to walk to other tavernas and shops but the distance was only short .It was only a few euros to get on the bus to Chania and other bigger places. But if its relaxation you want then stay around the pool enjoy the friendly atmosphere We definately will go there again From Stu & Jan

“Tired rooms, good pool and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2009

I travelled with my 7 year old daughter for a week's sunshine during the summer holidays. I've stayed around this part of Western Crete in the past, so knew the area. There's an excellent and frequent bus route along this coast. While we were there, the weather was good but sea bathing was inadvisable.
Although there are newer apartments to the rear, the accommodation in the main block is tired and in need of a refit. We had room 6 directly facing the bar, but I can't say we experienced any noise at all - guess this will differ from week to week. The noisest fridge in Gerani was the real obstacle to a good night's sleep. The kitchen equipment was poor, although there was a kettle and fridge. The bathroom had no window and an intermittent extractor fan.
But who comes to Greece in August to stay in the rooms? We has a pleasant balcony with a bit of shade at all times. No problem with mosquitos. Really nice family run the place, who try to get to know all the guests. The Pardalakis has a good pool, with shady areas and just the right amount of sunloungers. It claimed a depth of 2.9m but this is a Greek myth. Road in front was busy but I didn't notice the noise.
Couple of tips. Get familiar with the button to stop buses, as the closest alighting stop (travelling west) seems unknown to bus drivers.
Print off the bus timetable fron the web before you go, or collect a sheet from the announcer's kiosk at Chania bus station.
Make your own day out for 7euros return by catching the bus into Chania and out to the lagoon beach at Stavros, close to the airport. Excellent safe sea swimming.
Torch useful for the unmade road from the bakery towards the beach, supermarkets and tavernas.
I didn't expect to recommend a hotel resort restaurant, but the beachfront Eanthia was busy and pretty good for food and drink. On the main road about 12 mins walk from Pardalakis, Tassos in Gerani was a good family-run taverna. We had a predictably good meal at Diktinna (Kolymbari) and more surprisingly at Mihalis, facing the lighthouse at Chania harbour.
Can recommend the slices of spinach pie at the bakery, which is in an absurdly large building about 2 mins walk to the west.
