Futura hotel is located in Maleme, in a small town near the national road of Crete. The morning recepcionist was nice and confident. The hotel has a nice pool were you can stay all day long until late. The rooms hace cheap furnisher. The AC service has an extra rate of 5 EUR, We had dinner in the hotel bar, and the mousaka was great, not so great was breakfast. They didn't make up the room. In all Greece islands you can't throw any WC paper in the WC. Strong grillos noice.

We stayed in this hotel in July. The apartemt was good but the air-conditioning was terrible.

The breakfast was good but the only drinks were Orange Juice & Coffe.

Laundry was supposed to be changed twice a week but was not changed from Tuesday to Saturday and on Sunday the didn't come to the room. We stayed there 10 days and our linen were changed just 2 times.

At the gym there wasn't anybody so that was dangerous for the children. Also the internet was really expensive! 1euro for 15 minutes.

Also the nearst beach was about 10 minutes with the car and it wasn't so clean.

Unless all these, our stay was nice!

My fiance stayed here on our budget trip to Europe from the US. We got a great price on the room. The hotel is really clean and beautiful. The pool is excellent, staff was very helpful. THINGS TO KNOW: Chania is a long way from Malame (where the hotel is located) You have to take a bus or cab to get to town. It is like 7-10 miles. There was a petrol strike when we were there so the buses were running 50% of the time and no rental cars were available. Also this hotel does not have beach access. If that is why you are going, you need to get a little further down into Malame, or just go to Iraklion. Anyways we liked the hotel, but May is not beach weather in Crete.

TIP: dont take a tour to the Samarian Gorge, just take the public bus system. Very reliable and will only cost like $5. Save yourself a lot of money! The tour buses drop off at the same place.

We visited in June and booked the Futura because we could not get an apartment at our first choice in Maleme .

The apartment was a good size and well fitted out.Our main complaint was that we had no kettle and the coffee maker lead did not reach the plug in the kitchen

As soon as we got there we were plagued in our room by mosquitos and we noted that everyone had the same problem.

Many guests were complaining to the management whose only response was that we should pay extra for air conditioning at Eu 5 per night and buy the mosquito plug in repeller in their shop at Eu 8.

I have never suffered so many bites , 40 upwards even after the precautions they advised. Many of the other guests were much more severely bitten and with worse reactions to the bites. These could be clearly seen around the pool.

Cleaning was poor, the toilet and basin were not cleaned properly until we complained. A quick slop over the floor with a mop was all that the cleaners seemed to do

Another guest was complaining no balcony cleaning was done and they suffered from bird mess on their balcony along with others on the top floor.

On the good side , the Cretan evening was excellent and their barbecue the best I have had in Crete.

The gardens were beautiful and well tended and once problems were brought to the attention of the management then they did sort things out .

Verdict - they need to be much more proactive and aware of the attention to detail in cleaning and sorting out the mosquito problems.

I'd rate it just OK - you can do much better .
