This is a small family hotel with all of this situation advantages and, mainly, disadvantages sadly... 80% of guests are polish, some nice and friendly, but some very noisy, sitting&screeming&drinking free (all inclusive) alcohol till midnights, definitely not gentle-men or gentle-women...
As for the hotel itself, room was really NICE for Crete-have been here in 5star hotel with worse room...however there are some cons... the food selection is terribly limited (the first impression was a shocking one..) but when you accept lack of choice, it's quite reasonable with some noticeable utilisation of the food from the previous meals..and a lot of cheap food (pasta, potatoes etc.). The most of staff was nice and friendly, the old Owner sitting most of the day in a restaurant and smoking was very nice but for some people his smoking was a problem... I have to admit it was very good ventillation and it wasn't a problem for us. The one exception was a young, quite tall men serving in the restaurant (owner's son?), observing how much food you take, sometimes commenting on that and on food you haven't eaten...very unpleasant and unproffessional.
I can not put here any recommendation or not... Hotel is acceptable (but you have to ignore several disadvantages), Maleme is a good location for Elafonissi, Balos, Samaria, Falasarna...if you like such distant places with limited attractions and car rental companies.
