“VERY GOOD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We stayed there for 1 week at mid August with another couples. We were very satisfied with both everything. The staff polite and helpful. Food was delicious and plenty too. Recommended. The comments about the stairs of the other travellers are true BUT there is also another road that is only a few steps away from the hotel so don't worry. A bus station is available just infront of the hotel whoch was very convinient.

Room Tip: Ask for a top room. The view is amazing!

“expecting the worst having read the reviews, Rea Hotel was ok as a holiday base.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

The transfer by coach was ok, except we got dumped in ag. nik. at 4am to find our own way up a hill to the hotel. Not being seasoned travelers, usually used to caravaning and camping, we were quite happy with the accommodation at the Rea Hotel. The hotel was up a lot of steps, but so was most of ag. nik. The rooms were simple style and the all inclusive meals were basic variations of mostly Greek food, which was enjoyable and suited us. The staff were kind and helpful, but very firm at 10.00pm. The bar was open till 10. probably 10.30 or 11 would have made for happier campers. The hotel has no pool, but is close to a small pebbly man-made beach with good swimming and loungers to hire. Air conditioning is extra but essential, as it was very warm. My main trauma was mosquitoes which i reacted to, so be prepared. On the whole my holiday was a wonderful experience. but you may have greater expectations...

Room Tip: accept that air con will be needed and will be extra, if its cool enough without it you wont have su...

“not a good hotel”

We stayed at the rea hotel in july 2010. It was a reasonably price at the time and for what we got it was a bed at the end of the day. We had a great transfer by taxi so it only took us an hour to arrive at the hotel, but other guests we had spoken to it took them 2/3 hours transfer so be awear. The hotel was up 70+ steps and to get out of the hotel to beach town etc which was a killer. Food was very poor and always cold but i always give the benifit of the doubt everybodys tastes are not the same but we ate out almost all of the week AI well as the hotel does not have a pool you tend to visit the beach so you are not using the bar in the hotel through the day and it DOES close at 10pm. Choose another hotel because the service is poor. Very dated and in need of improvments with every issue of this hotel. If you are just there to sleep then you would be ok although not much room to move in the rooms. Just remember to get what you pay for.

“Tired, Shabby & Dated”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

The Rea Hotel is advertised as 2, and sometimes a 3 star hotel. It may have been this in 1970 but today its a no frill hotel that is run down, dirty and smelly. The entrance to the hotel has 77 steep steps to reception, none of which is mentioned in their advertising. Having lots of steps is understandable as its a very hilly destination, and there is another backroad to the entrance, but the stairs should be mentioned, for the elderly or for those who have difficulty in walking.

The corridors are carpeted with a dark green, old carpet that is not only shabby but rancid with cooking smells and stained throughout. The room itself was average, however, the bathroom was very small and had a handheld shower with a broken shower rail and it was without any proper lighting.

The balcony was tiny with half of the space taken up by the air conditioning unit, leaving no room to sit there. The air con units make a rumble throughout the night which can be annoying.

Luckily we didn't book all inclusive but did have breakfast on the first morning which was dreadful. It's the cheapest scrambled eggs (tastes of 90% made up of milk) and processed ham (90% made up of water) you could probably buy...I even doubt that the local cats would eat it!

I also had some underwear and a T-Shirt go missing as well which is mentioned in other people's feedback.

Overall, the Rea Hotel is not as advertised, and the hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment and should be reviewed as to whether it should be recommended by travel companies & agents. We wouldn't stay there again as the hotel has had its day.

“Don't even think about it!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

upon arrival we were allocated a very small room, with a filthy floor, decrepid fixtures and fittings which appeared to not have been updated or cleaned in the last 20 years! The water from the shower was freezing every night. There was no air conditioning unless you gave the manager 5 euros a night. The dining room was like a school canteen and the food was almost unedible!!! The toilets in the main hotel had cockroaches and agin were filthy! Even though we were all inclusive, there were no bar staff to serve and when a friend took it upon herself to get a drink, the manger was very abusive.
I was bitten very badly all over my arms and legs, ending up in the local hospital...but I'm not sure it was mosquito's...as the place was so filthy...it may have been other bugs at night! We had repellant and I had been taking anti histamines as a precation before we went. If it wasn't for me having my european E11 card on me, the local hospital would not have even treated me! I had a strong dose of anti biotics and was unable to walk comfortably or eat/drink for 3 days!!! it was a night mare!!! a local man told me the hotel had been in the papers that many times in the past year for cases of holiday makers being extremely ill! if you value your health and your sanity...do not book the hotel Rea! I'm amazed we made it back alive!!!!!!!
