“friendly outstanding value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

i`ve just spent a lovely week at the Faedra Beach hotel with my husband and two small children and we all had a great time. The first thing to comment on is the fantastic staff at the hotel -they are very friendly and helpful and also thoughtful. We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a long journey and the lady on reception brought us two lovely plates of food and put some water in our fridge which was totally unexpected but very much appreciated .The food was very good - breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of breakfast fare and the evening meal was a delicious variety of cretan food which we really enjoyed and makes a change from the "international" food served at many hotels across the world. The little beach opposite the hotel is a beautiful shallow cove that is great for swimming and relaxing...
overall this hotel was brilliant and I would definately visit again.....

Room Tip: choose ground floor if you have children as the balcony enclosure is not very high and has large gap...

“Friendly family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We spent a week at this hotel and had a wonderful time. We had a first floor room with a double and single bed, There was a small well equipped kitchen which was a bonus as we were on half board. Breakfast was a buffet and had plenty of choice with lovely fresh bread. Dinner was mainly traditional Cretan dishes with bread and greek salad as standard.
There is a small swimming pool with sunbeds at the front of the hotel but the greatest asset was the lovely blue flag beach just across the road with free sunbeds etc. Yes the road is busy but the waiters seem to manage very well bringing trays of drinks and food across to the taverna opposite.
There is a small kiosk on the beach selling very reasonable water and snacks although this year, the supermarket didn't open which would have been a bonus as there is no shop in Ammoudara.
We asked to substitute dinner for lunch and found some very nice places to eat in Agios Nicolaos. Worth a mention is the Itanos which is just off the square. There is no set menu and you go inside and see what is on offer. Delicious simple Cretan dishes are on display and you just choose what you want. It was very reasonable and the food was fresh and tasty.
The buses to Agios Nicolaos cost about 1euro 60 single and a taxi is about 8 euro. Bus stop is by the kiosk with the timetables clearly displayed. There is a reasonable car hire shop run by the friendly Adonis just a few doors from the hotel.
This hotel is the most friendly and welcoming we have ever been to. They are always chatty and helpful and make you feel at home. it was a sad time having to leave and we would certainly come back in the future.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor if you can manage the steps as the banana trees make some of the ground floor ro...

“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We arrived at the hotel and the air conditioning in the room we were given was not working properly, so we were moved into another room, they definitely did everything within their power to make our stay pleasant. The wi-fi signal in the rooms were virtually non existent, but was available in the lobby/dinning area. I will definitely stay here again as it is across the street from probably the best beach in the area (free umbrella, chairs and towel if you are a hotel guest), and excellent Slouvaki kiosk next door. For the price it was great

John and I have just returned from Faedra Beach, they give 100 per cent to cleints beuatifully run family hotel, family Marietta, Manos Zeus (the father) ha ha and lovely Mum. They made our stay very special when Olympic had totally let us down Chrys on reception worked tirelessly to sort out our return flight as we had been given 2 times 15 hours apart, then the flight was delayed 2 and a half on top, the family let us stay on in room for a few hours, at no extra charge, the food is the best Greek cuisine, Moussaka and Grilled Octopus you must try Vangelis is the happy waiter who always is smiiling, bedrooms wonderful, sea beautiful and warm beach fab and free sunbeds!!! So sad to be here but John will be back to sort boat soon Love to you all Elizabeth and John Birmingham England
