“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2010

One of the best places we have stayed, its a cross between a 5 star boutique hotel and a family B+B, you get the best of both worlds, classy accomodation and home grown hospitality.
The fabric and fittings of the place are superb, a lot of care and attention has been taken with all aspectsof the decor (Popi?), even down to elegant soap dispeners in the kitchen area, and colour co-ordinated soaps, dishes in the bathroom, all with a really nice fragrance, (we still have a soap left!).
The place really is squeaky clean, your shoes do squeak on the lobby floor, I kept meaning to take a photo of the loo cistern pipe, polished to perfection.
The location is perfect, Agios Nikolaos has the reputation of being 'Touristy' but the Palazzo is away from the main strip, and we found it to be charming, and the beach (we had a sea view room) the best for us as we like to swim.
The family are warm and friendly, when my wife got stung by something our host produced a tube of cream for us to use and return, its the little things that mark the character of the owners.
I know you read these reviews Popi, so thanks for a great stay and we hope to return one day.

We stayed here 3 nights, after being in Chania for a few nights. This is a great little hotel, owned by a really nice Greek family. They served us continental breakfast with homemade pastries, (made by the mother)fresh fruit, very good, helpful with directions, restaurants, things to do in the area. It was just what we were looking for, great location, an intimate hotel experience.
Our room had a view of the bay, so nice to sit on our deck & have a glass of wine. The restaurant downstairs was excellent, one of the best we had in Crete. The location was perfect for us, so many restaurants, shopping, views, not far from some sights we wanted to see. We went to Spinalonga island, Kristsa (old village), Knossos (1hr. away)
We would stay here again.............Thanks Popi & your family for your warmth, & making it a memorable experience!

“Perfect place in Agios Nikolaos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2009

We have spent a nice week in Palazzo Appartments.
Dermitzakis Family were really helpful in everything. The appartment was big, really nice furnished and very clean. The berakfeast was delicious and more than enough :-). The We liked very much the Tavernas nearby suggested by Popi.

“Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2009

It was just by chance that we found this hotel and walked in and got two rooms. They were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff is outstanding. Very helpful and gracious. The location was not far from anything, we walked all around the town from the hotel. If it is relaxation and pampering you are looking for you will find it here. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers, it was a great stay.

“Wonderful Cretan hospitality.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

We stayed at Palazzo apartments recently and couldn't recommend it highly enough. The old stone building, set overlooking the sea, is beautifully and sensitively refurbished to a modern standard. We were slightly worried about its central location in a busy center for bars and restaurants but due to the excellent double glazing and perfectly quiet air-conditioning we were able to both enjoy the benefits of the location and also sleep at night! The owner and his wife are very hospitable people who work extremely hard to ensure you feel welcome and comfortable, with wonderful home baked Cretan breakfast pastries and home grown thyme honey. They also left some strong and delicious home-brewed Raki in the room which they replenished freely! This area of the resort is populated by a real mixture of different Europeans, lots of Italians and Greeks and not as many Brits as I expected. This gives it a lovely, cosmopolitan feel. The beach is tiny and busy with European families. Lots of interesting things, both cultural and touristy, to see and do on Crete although it can be ferociously hot - 42 degrees at one point. We are looking forward to returning to this wonderful island and to the Palazzo appartments.

  • Liked — quality of accomodation and hospitality of owners
  • Disliked — Shower water not always hot like rest of Crete.
