“Great view but dirty room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

We stayed at the Apollonia in conjunction with a group tour. The view from rooms on the upper levels was spectacular but the room itself was a disappointment. There were pieces of dirt and who knows what all over the carpet. The shower and shower curtain were moldy. I thought that the room might at least be vacuumed when they came in to clean on our second day but this was not the case. Breakfast was ok but the hotel staff were not friendly and seemed to stare at you like they were afraid you were going to steal the silverware.
All in all, I wish that we had stayed at the Amalia down the hill which had a beautiful pool, the same view and the room we looked at was clean! When we inquired about price, we were given the same rate as the Apollonia quoted us.

No complaints... evening meal was excellent with very good and attentive service. Breakfast was typical buffet style with good choice . Room overlooking the valley was exceptional with comfortable bed...What more can you ask for?

“Quite Disappointed With the Personnel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2008

We stayed in this hotel with my wife for one day. The hotel itself looked good, I liked the furniture and the view. Although, regarding the view, you would probably get the same from any hotel around as they are all on the same hill side.

However, we were really disappointed with the behavior of the personnel. There was an incident, when two people entered our room all of sudden - apparently they got by mistake the same room that we got. Unfortunately I didn't manage to stop them as I had to dress up and they left in between. In the state of shock (that had never happened to me before), I immediately went to the reception and asked for explanation - the receptionist and a waiter were trying to make a fool out of me claiming that it could not have happened and that we were both with my wife just dreaming! At the same time and in front of me, the receptionist was rebooking the other people's room and had to fix my door card as well (it stopped working after the other people used their card in our door) They were just trying to pretend that nothing had happened and everything was allright.

The waiter was explaining me pretty aggressively, how the door cards worked, which was really rediculous and stupid - I work as an IT expert.

As a result, since we didn't trust the hotel staff any more, we asked for the keys to the safe and kept almost everything there.

We all make mistakes and I would understand it, had they admitted that. But they were just covering up their mess.

I wrote a complaint about it to the hotel owner but did not get any answer. That just completes the picture of their totally unprofessional approach. Never again!

  • Liked — The view.
  • Disliked — The dishonesty and unprofessional behavior of the receptionist.

“Comfortable Hotel On The Edge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2008

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Apollonia for two nights while on an escorted tour of Greece and the Aegean Sea operated by Vantage Deluxe World Travel in late-April and early-May 2008. We found our first floor room to be a bit small but we only slept there and the double bed was quite comfortable. We could walk out the "back" of the hotel onto a grass "patio" which offered an interesting view of houses below. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a wide array of various breakfast fruits, cereals, eggs, bacon and breads. The spread was excellent. Amenities included wi-fi with a tempermental "pay as you go" laptop in the lobby. The view from the lobby to the north was to die for! Olive tree groves and the inlet to the ocean in the distance. Delphi itself was not very big but it was a spectacular small town on a big bluff overlooking the largest groves of olive trees that we saw in all of Greece.

“Just a little creepy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2008

From the outside, the hotel looks like a european splendor, but on the inside, it's a bit rustic and old-worldy, heavy wood paneling, dark, a bit intimidating. Maybe the expensive rooms or suites were better, but...

The room we were in was quite small but we did have a great view of the houses and valley below. The hotel staff appeared quite friendly but didn't have much to say about much of anything. A lot of staring going on at breakfast.

Breakfast buffet was served in the basement of the hotel, which kind of resembled your typical church lunch room. Wide room, low ceilings, plastic tiled floor. Ambiance, not much. I'd stay here again, if only to remove my "the hills have eyes" vibe from the breakfast experience.

LOVED the tiny little town of Delphi, tho. Great coffee shops.

  • Liked — The proximity to the town and to the archeological site of Delphi
  • Disliked — Breakfast room
