“A hotel with a brilliant view and friendly Greek atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2010

Hotel Vouzas is in the best position in Delphi for walking to the archaelogical site, museum and temple of Athena. Its setting is superb looking far overthe Amphissa Olive Grove to the Bay of Corinth, with the River Pleistos running through the soft grey trees. The rooms are spacious with wonderful views. They are not 5-star luxury but quite adequate. Our dinners featured good home-style Greek cooking. Breakfasts are so so, but you get what you pay for. The hotel is rated 4 star (but you are not paying 4 star rates). The staff are friendly and helpful and react favourably to a smile and a thank-you.

“Best view in the world”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2009

I've been staying at this hotel since the mid-1990s and I LOVE the place. It offers travellers one of the best views available anywhere in the world and is incredibly atmospheric. I really wouldn't recommend missing out on a night in this hotel, even if with the allegations made by some visitors were true. Trying to understand these I have to admit that the standard of breakfast has lately fallen. Once upon a time there were delicious warm mini-croissants at breakfast time...but on my most recent visit these were no longer offered, Bread and boiled eggs...and coffee not always hot, which is depressing, because the hotel really is one in a million for location. Would be a shame if a travellers missed out on this once in a life time, spectacular view I have stayed here so often that I should have seen a cockroach if they really were there. Cockroaches I have never ever seen at the Vouzas. But I saw them often in New YOrk, even in 5 star hotels. Could these bugs actually have come in a suitcase from east coast American cities? I find this likely. On my most recent trip things were a little down at heel, as if the owners, very sadly, were struggling, beds not the most comfortable or well-made but you really can overlook these shortcomings when you step on the balcony and see the mountain in all its moods. Vouzas is still my favourite hotel in all Greece and indeed the world. That view is umissable.

“Please, do not stay in this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2009

It was offered to us as a four star hotel with a view towards the Corinthian Bay. Beds were broken and there was not hot water (weather was cold). The hotel rooms are at a lower level from the lobby (-1 to -4). To go up and down you have to take a very old lift that does not always work. At the time of our check-out, the lift was not working. The telephone was not working either. Our neighbor called the front desk to get someone to help us with our luggage (We are in our eighties). They sent an old lady, older than us, and we felt very sorry because she could barely carry our luggage . The three of us took the luggage upstairs with some other old tourists from our group. We went upstairs through broken stairs, we saw and listened to many bugs, and there was not light. We were scared.
We stayed one night. We could not have breakfast. We felt nauseated after noticing how food was prepared and served. The hotel personnel handle the food with uncovered and dirty hands and fingers.
The hotel is the closest to the archeological sites. However, Delphi is a very small town and in reality all the hotels are close to the temples and museum. Perhaps, you have to walk one or two extra blocks.
We are not difficult travelers. We have traveled a lot. We do not look for expensive places. We only look for a clean place with excellent location if possible. We cannot recommend this horrible place. It is worst ever.

“the most terrible hotel I've ever visited.”

We visited this hotel during a school excursion. The rooms were uwfull, many lamps were burned, there was no warm water, and in some rooms there was no water at all! In many rooms were flying wild bees, many beds were broken, the lift was for some time out of order. The personel was unhelpfull and tired. Old furniture, no heat, many children were felling cold during the night. Dirty and disgusting!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2008

This hotel is indeed the closest to the archaeological site, but as has been pointed out by others, Delphi is a small town anyway.
We had 2 interconnecting rooms on the top floor (ie one below the main floor) for us and our 2 children. The rooms were very basic and the bathrooms had frosted glass panels to internal air shafts so that when our neighbours were in their bathrooms , it sounded as if they were in ours.
The breakfast was fine but very basic. The view is incredible, but don't look down if you get vertigo! Overall this is a tired hotel in need of updating.
