Small, but clean and everything worked. Both the manager and desk clerk were friendly and helpful. Cold buffet breakfast included was good. The location was good and a sign on the main street VERY helpful. Metro about 4 blocks away. Also lots of restaurants, shops and a very pretty little park. I would recommend it to people on a budget who are looking for a good value for their money!

This was my third trip in Athens and I decided to stay at the Hotel Roy largely because of the price and somewhat central location. The room turned out to be the size of a broom closet, the bathroom smelled of mold, guests argued in other rooms, and there was no AC during a month of 40+ C temperatures! When I asked to change rooms (to a more expensive one), I was told that it could only be done at certain times of the day. The front desk staff were unpolite and unkempt. They even seemed to take glee in telling me how long it would take for a taxi to arrive if they called one. When I asked for breakfast, I was told I had to pay. I said no problem, then they proceeded to tell me that breakfast hours had ended 5 minutes earlier... at 9:30am on a Sunday! Avoid this place... it could easily wreck your trip to Athens.
