“Athens like family”

I was just looking at a picture of the hotel, and I MISS IT!!!! Thanks how charming this place is! The staff, especially Chris at the front desk, makes you feel like family. OK......the neighborhood could be nicer, but for the price you'd be hard pressed to find anything better, the crackheads and ho's are non aggressive, we actually go in the habit of bagging up what we didn't eat at the generous breakfast served and sharing with some of the homeless. But that is just coming and going, once inside you feel like home and just a five block walk and you're at the metro and off the the sites. I routinely took a walk at around 11 pm every night for excerzise and never felt unsafe. Excellent amenities, CLEAN, attentive, you really get more that you're paying for.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms on the front have shutters, once closed provide quiet and darkness. When open give...

“Borderline acceptable as a (dirt)y cheap hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011 via mobile

The price was about 16EUR for a twin private room, which is cheap.

However the room provided (a twin) was very small, the beds were more uncomfortable than you'd expect from a budget hotel and the bathroom was not clean.

Cockroaches were spotted in the bathroom.

Don't get me wrong - I'd stay again, under the cheap and cheerful excuse, but not a chance I'd recommend it to anyone but students or people who like to rough it from time to time.

On a positive note the wifi was fast and free. Other hotels in the area should take note.

“Thoughts on Aristoteles hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

The staff could not have been more helpful. After a bad journey I was given a free upgrade to a room with a balcony. When I cut my finger the staff bathed it and gave me a supply of plasters. I was allowed to use their phone to re confirm bookings. The staff guided me as to where to find buses, when they went and where to pay.

The local area is not wonderful, but there are some cheap and nice restaruants within a five minute walk and shops are open in to the early evenings. A rare thing in Athens!

Hotel was clean, efficient and the breakfast was a high class continental version.

I would certainly recomend this hotel, excellant value and service.

“Very good budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

This is a good quality 2* hotel in the centre of Athens. I stayed for five nights in October 2011. I had a twin room with single occupancy for 28 Euros a night and considered this a very good deal given the facilities, etc. My room had been refurbished in the last couple of years and decorated fairly recently. Everything was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was good with a decent supply of basic toiletries which were replenished regularly. Towels and bedding were clean and in good condition. The bed was firm but comfortable and pillows were near new. Breakfast was reasonable given the price paid. Soundproofing is not wonderful so street noise is a factor as are other noisy guests. If you want peace and quiet don't stay in central Athens. The area round the hotel is typical for that part of Athens, ie noisy and a bit seedy but safe. It is good that the hotel management invite guests to submit reviews to TripAdvisor - this demonstrates a willingness to receive public comment on the hotel and its staff. I would use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are noisier than those at the rear.

“Smells of gutter! worst place ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

we were having the best holiday ever till we arrived to this hotel! honestly we couldn't get out of here fast enough. we were booked here for three nights but checked out after the first night into another hotel. we booked it thinking it was a resonable place in the heart of athens, easy access and breakfast included! WHAT A MISTAKE! it stank, the area was horrid and breakfast was the most ridiculous thing ive ever seen - literally bread in a basket with jam, butter, tea and coffee!! worse than a youth hostel, somebody wrote that it smelt like a tramp alley way. i could not agree more!

do yourself a favour and pay a little extra and stay somewhere else. i wouldn't reccomend this place for a adult travelling alone let alone for a family or couple!! taxi's barely stop here and the staff are moody, unhelpful, uninterested! omounia area itself has an awful reputation for drugs, prostitutes and pickpokets! please be so careful if you do decide to stay here!

NO! NO! NO!
