Panos, on reception, was really helpful and suggested a takeaway (of typical Greek food) for dinner so didn't go out in the evening which suited me so can't comment on restaurants. The room was clean and basic but comfortable enough. Very close to the metro and a 9euro taxi trip to the bus station. I booked the hotel because of its proximity to the bus station (had a very early start) and so it ticked all the boxes for my requirements. Panos was super friendly and helpful and so if I needed a hotel for the bus trip again I would stay here.

The hostage was excellent and the receptionist was very polite. The room was clean. We payed 40€ including breakfast / buffet. So, as a result, we are very satisfied.

We stayed at Hotel Diethnes for one night primarily because of its close proximity to Larissa train station.
The hotel is pretty average - OK for one night, but not somewhere you would want to stay for a lengthy duration. The beds in the rooms are huge, and the breakfast has plenty of choice, but other than that it's nothing special, and there's a tinge of cigarette smoke throughout.
I'd recommend the hotel for a short stay of a purely functional/practical nature, but nothing more.

The building itself is quite nice. The rooms have new windows that work well to block out street noise. Breakfast was simple but good.

The area itself is not great for travellers. There are not any restaurants nearby and it does feel a bit unsafe at night. We never had any problems but it did seem a bit scuzzy. However, it was easy to get into the main tourist areas on the metro.

Our room did not get cleaned but in their defense we hadn't paid for the 2nd night yet.

The front desk people were friendly but not that helpful. Their english seemed to be limited and they didn't have a lot of information about the area (dining, transportation etc.)
