“Good value in troubled times”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We stayed at the Hotel Moka in late September and were very satisfied. Nice clean accommodation and a good breakfast. The staff were helpful at all times and even helped us get a taxi to the port of Piraeus to make sure the taxi meter was running. People have mentioned the area as being a problem. We didn't feel uncomfortable in any way at all. The location was good as it was just down the road from the Omonia Metro Station. The bus stop to Terminal B bus station is just outside the door. We feel really sad that Athens is having such a bad time. We enjoyed our visit very much. We hope Athens and Greece can get to grips with their real problems.

“good value for money”

the hotel is situated a couple of minutes from the main square omonia and the archeological museum. when we first got there (at night) i was scared but the area is not dangerous, it is normal for this city to have many drug addicts and prostitutes. they dont try to attack you or anything :)
the hotel staff was excellent and helped us with many questions.
the breakfast was simple.it included eggs, orange juice, tost, honey.
the room was simple and clean.

“Small budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Honestly I think this hotel is very overrated, it is a simple budget hotel with very small rooms (we were not able to open our baggage) and clean bathroom and a normal breakfast.
Its surroundings is not the best, but everybody knows it who heard about Omonia (we knew).
We asked a double bed room, but we got a room with two beds far from each other.
Our room was very warm, but we couldn't open the window because of the noisy area (our view was a very busy rood), so we had to use AC all night long.
Hotel staff is average, we didn't find them extremely friendly.
We will not go back to this hotel, we didn't like it so much.

“Great hotel with only a few small problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

Stayed here one night after arriving from the Cyclades before my flight out of Athens Airport.

Very easy to reach from Pireus, only 6 blocks to walk (not 10 minutes) from Omonia Subway Station, very nice reception, For the first time ever in Greece was asked if i would like to pay with my card!

Room was good, well maintained and very clean, two problems existed: There was no showercurtain so i got water pretty much over the whole bathroom, and it also dripped condense from the inside a/c unit (which was very quiet by the way), this i solved by sacrificing a towel and placed it under the unit. Nice also that there is a refrigerator in the room, hidden away in the closet thus eliminating the noise. Beds somewhat hard but comfortable.

Area is not great, but i did not feel alarmed by the surroundings, and for the price paid it was excellent value, some traffic noise but on 3rd floor it was not too bad

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up, Less traffic noise
