“Great views of Acropolis”

The immediate area is a bit off putting as others have said but don't let that put you off. It doesn't take long to walk into the centre of Athens and is close to a metro station, close enough for us to use this to get the train to and from the airport.

The man on reception was very helpful and was able to book a trip to Delphi for us. The breakfast room did get busy but there was a lovely selection of food that set you up for the day. Our room was fairly modern and I particularly liked the bathroom. The rooftop has fantastic views of the Acropolis and when we went it was amazing to sit out up there looking at it. All in all, I would stay here again next time I visit Athens.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Acropolis.

“I'll stay here again”

I stayed here for four nights and was really impressed by the place. The rooms are spotless, spacious enough and modern. We were lucky enough to get a room on the 6th floor with a balcony looking out at the Acropolis. It was a little cold to make use of the balcony, but its big and would be great in the warmer months - the view was fantastic in any case. There is also a roof terrace in case your room doesn't have a view.

The breakfast (included) was absolutely fine - various breads, croissants, cereals, eggs, salami, yoghurt etc. I'm not sure why other reviewers thought it was crap. There is also a mini-fridge in the room which is great after you've stocked up on goodies from the central market which is about 1 minute away.

Yes, the area is covered in grafitti, but so is pretty much all of Athens. There are some great little bars, cafes and restaurants nearby (just turn right out the door of the hotel and walk 1 minute).

It's a 5 minute walk from Monastiraki metro - just walk across the square, cross over Ermou and head up the road the has the pharmacy on the corner (green cross). You come to a little plaza with a bunch of restaurants and bars, walk past them and veer slightly right.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

I have to go back to Athens in January and I'll definitely be staying here again!

Room Tip: Sixth floor, facing the Acropolis.

“Well priced, clean hotel in Good location”

Stayed here one night before going on a cruise. Late checkout at 12pm helped with that as we weren't having to traipse our bags around as we went straight to the port for a 2pm boarding. Breakfast was pretty crap, so expect to eat out, however there are heaps of cafes & creperies nearby which are really nice. Front desk staff were really friendly. Bathroom was clean, as was the rest of the room.

“Nice, clean, modern and very central”

We here for 2 nights in between the islands and Istanbul after checking on TripAdvisor.

From the very friendly and helpful staff at reception on arrival through to our departure we enjoyed our stay in Athens and at the Arion. The building is modern and we found the room to be very nice, bathroom was a good size and well maintained. Everything worked as it should, bedding was fine.

There is a great view from the terrace on the roof as mentioned by other reviewers.

The area is fine, just take the usual travel precautions. In fact we loved the little streets around the hotel with their array of weird and wonderful shops (need to buy a shepherds crook? a bell for your goat? a grape press?) Just down the street from the hotel is a small square with some wonderful wall art and a shop that sells a beautiful Greek pastry which you can see being made. We can highly recommend a Food Ttour (Athens Walking Tours - see TA) which is done on foot and includes the markets as well as other small neighborhood specialty shops.

The hotel is close to Monistraki with the Metro station, flea market and other attractions. we walked from and to the Metro with packs easily. You can get everywhere you need on foot so go and enjoy!

“If I revisit Athens, I'll stay here again”

My 15 year old daughter and I stayed at the Arion Athens Hotel for the Greek leg of our vacation. The hotel is about a 2 minute walk from Monisteraki Square and the metro. It's a straight shot to the airport from that metro station, so the location is excellent. Our stay came with a complimentary breakfast, which was satisfying and of good quality. The area in which the hotel is located is rife with graffiti and appears to be seedy, but, remember, this is Europe, not Los Angeles. Graffiti here doesn't mean gang territory that you need to avoid. We walked the area late at night on several occassions and never felt in danger. Our room also had an unobstructed view of the Accropolis. Breathtaking at night. I would stay at this hotel again on a moment's notice!
