“Don't go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2009

My young daughter and I had booked this "hotel" thru a website while we were travelling thru europe in June 2009.
The taxi driver from Athens airport did not know this "hotel" or the address in which it was situated, he made a phone call to the reception to get details of where it was and was abused by the receptionist!! When we finally found the hotel i was also abused by the "receptionist"..in greek, so had no idea what the problem was. Turns out he did not have our reservation and continued to hand out room keys to men and their "dates" while receiving cash for the room for a "short stay". I soon realised this was not a hotel , but a brothel (at nite anyway). so quickly left! Very bad experience late at nite with a child!

“Booked into a Brothel - and no, we weren't customers”

What ever you do, do not stay in this hotel. The other reviews posted on this site describing the hotel as a brothel in a poorly lit alley with prostitutes openly trading outside the front door and inside the hotel are all 100% accurate - and we had a six month old baby with us! Far superior accomodation is available in other parts of Athens for the same price.

If you read this before you travel I would highly reccommend having a plan B when you decide not to stay here.

  • Liked — Staying in a brothel may have its perks for some
  • Disliked — Totally unsuitable for couples or young families

“Don't ever go there!! (Except you're a prostitute...)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2007

The hotel was nothing like the pictures in the ad' showed. The room had a bed and a toilet that was at least clean, but the neighbourghood was the worst ever! I was so afraid to go home every night, and hadn't my boyfriend convinced me that we couldn't afford anything else, I would never have stayed there! There were prostitutes at the hotel, creepy guys all around the block, and totally dark in the small alleyway - it wasn't even a street!!! It smelled like urin all over the "street", beggars hung all over you, and the taxidriver even warned us that it was dangerous to walk around in that neighbourghood!!! Don't ever go there!!!!!!

  • Liked — It was at least cheap
  • Disliked — Everything about the neighbourghood and the room

“More like a hostel for prostitutes!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2007

As i was going to the champions league final i needed to book a hotel in athens. I decided to make a holiday of it and bring my girlfriend with me and stay for the week! The only hotel that was available though due to the high demand for acommodation was the Zenith hotel. After reading a summary of the hotel and seeing some of the photos that were posted with it i was very happy and found the €54 a night fee very reasonable considering the week that was in it so went ahead and booked it. Upon arriving in athens we got a taxi at the airport to the hotel. The taxi driver himself could not find the hotel and had to ring the hotel for directions! After recieving the directions he advised me to try and find another hotel but i had no other choice to go there as it was 3:30 in the morning and needed somewhere to stay for the night!
When we got to the hotel we realised that the hotel was down a dark alley way with not much lighting! We went inside and checked in. We had 3 bags with us so the man at the desk kindly helped us up the stairs with them! Before doing so though he stuck a metal bar through the 2 door handles to stop thieves (in his own words) When we got to our room we found the room to be very small and run down! The view out of our window was facing another window diectly in front of us from the opposite building accross the alley way! The room was not even remotely close in comparison to the pictures i seen posted. To add to that nothing worked in the room accept for the lights and the shower! When we got up that morning there was prostitutes hanging around the steps of the hotel. We went down stairs to hand in our keys to head out and one of them was at the desk with a punter and handed the man at the desk money which he pocketed and gave them a key and they headed up the stairs! I seen this happen 3 times during the 2 times i happened to be at the desk that morning! On 2 occasions the same woman! We decided from then that we were gonna look for somewhere dfferent. After an hour of looking we found another hotel and went back to check out! When we tried to check out they got very volatile and started shouting at us! They couldn't speak much english so most of it was in greek! They tried to take our bags of us but we made it clear that we were leaving so they said to come back later that day to talk to the boss! We went back a couple of hours later again to find prostitutes hanging around outside on the steps of the hotel. When we went in there was a different man on the desk and after he sorted the prostitute out with a room that went in ahead of us we explained our situation! He too was very volatile towards us but did ring the boss! After talking to the boss he said the best offer he could give me was to only charge me for 50% of the the time i was booked to stay there! I then found out that i had already been charged for the 6 nights i was ment to be staying there even though when it was booked i was told that my credit card would not be charged and was just for reservation purposes to hold my room! He then told me that they would refund the other half back to my card. So we booked out and all in all i was checked into the hotel for less than 12 hours before i checked back out! It would have been even less if i could have helped it! When i got home from my trip i rang my credit card company and found out that they had actually charged me over a month before i had even travelled to athens and as of yet there is no sign of my refund. I will post back however if i do recieve it! I would definatly NOT reccommend this hotel to anyone!

  • Liked — Nothing!
  • Disliked — The quality of the rooms and the area!

“Hotel of Last Resort”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2007

Due to the EU Soccer finals taking place in Athens, this was the only hotel my travel agent could find for the four days I would be vacationing in Athens.
First of all my credit card was billed for the full stay when the room was first reserved in April.
Communication with the staff was very trying- extremely limited English.
My first room had only a bed, chair, night stand with a small light (no shade on it). There was no closet or dresser. The TV was broken. The room had a window that looksx ouf into the hall way - go figure.
I complained about the TV and was moved to a room that was more resonable.
Both rooms needed a good cleaning, esp. the bathrooms. The beds were made up with only a bottom sheet. You had to finish making the bed yourself, and there were no bed spreads.

The neighborhood is pretty scary. The area is active with prostitution- both female and male. Managed to be present at the registration desk when the same women brought there john's into the hotel. I was propositioned a couple of times by prostitutes who sat on the hotel's front steps. Though, once they knew I wasn't interested, they backed off and there were no problemse -even got to the point of waving hello to one another.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor would I go back, unless it was the "hotel of last resort."

  • Liked — It was available for the dates I needed
  • Disliked — Rooms were not clean.
