Stayed in this hotel on our the last night in greece, having come back from Santorini. We thought of saving some money and decided to try out this hotel (ard 50 euros per night) which is very cheap compared to staying at Hotel Electra hotel (155euros per night) during the start of our holiday.
We took the train from the airport to Omonia metro station. On the way to finding the hotel, we saw people lying on the streets half drunk, groups of police petrolling and asking the men on the street for IDs, alot of what seems to be immigrants (illegal or not??). We felt very unsafe. And the hotel is not that easy to find. We asked a policeman for help. He is very kind to show us directions while being on duty. He and his fellow colleagues were rounding up a group of immigrants..(from what i can tell).
The hotel is decent for 3stars if you dont bring any expectations there. Bfast is not very appetizing. Cold hard boiled eggs, bread, cornflakes, plain yoghurt only. The juice is very diluted. But i guess what can i expect for the price we paid? Glad we only stayed there for one night.
Location to other places is ok. 10mins to train station. But from the airport, you got to change train. Not so conveient if you are carrying a lots of bags.
Location comparing to Hotel Electra (at Sytagma Square), Hotel Electra is much better.
Throughout our stay, we have to be extra careful and stay out of the way if we see any funny characters in our pave. On the other hand, this area has the most number of police patrolling 24hours than any other place in athens as far as we can tell. So does it make it safer???
However i would recommend staying in another hotel in a safer location. It is not worth saving the money and compromising your own safety.
