We stayed in Melia overnight before travelling to Ermioni and then stayed for 2 nights on the way back. The Hotel is very good. Both rooms we had were well-furnished and very clean. All staff were very helpful. The rooftop pool is great for cooling down after a day's sightseeing. Good view of Acropolis. The hotel is 5 minutes from the Archeological Museum (both open-top bus tours stop there), 5 minutes from Omonia Square with a metro stop and a fifteen minute walk to Syntagma Square, so in a convenient spot. The immediate area around the hotel is a bit run-down. There are beggars on the street and a few junkies too but I never came across any trouble or felt concerned for our safety. A walk via Akedemia was spectacular for the buildings there.
A 12 euro ticket gets you in to all the open-air archeological sites - a bargain and the open-top bus can help you more between sites too.
Hotel rooftop restaurant is good but a little pricy for some things (but OK if you just want to chill after a day out). A beer is 8 euros but a toasted sandwich is 4!
All in all this is a good hotel and I would use it again.
