“Luxury for a bargain!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I booked my hotel for Athens using lastminute.com and got a great deal on one of their 'top secret' hotels - you don't get the name until you've booked for lm virgins - which turned out to Melia Athens.
I stayed in an executive double and it was fab. Beautiful Egyptian cotton sheets, big comfy bed with loads of fluffy pillows.
The shower was a bit of a novelty and took a few minutes to figure out - was one if those spa ones!
There was even a phone in the bathroom!!!
The staff were excellent - really friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is not far from the underground train system and also within walking distance, well for me, of a lot of major attractions.
Rooftop pool and views a bonus!
Highly recommended.

“Value for money/ clean/ helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

During my stay of 3 nights I enjoyed its nice, clean and quiet back room, great king-size bed, gym and sauna for free as well as my own jacuzzi into my bathroom (deluxe room).
The staff was great and mostly kind and helpful, even printed for free my air tickets.
The negative part is that alittle attention is needed when outside, especially during the night but it is located really close to any means of transport as well as the most worthy monuments in Athens.

“Greece my Greece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

It was imperative that our 7 day stay in Athens was in a 5 star property as we were travelling with my older parents and wanted them to be comfortable, safe and happy. They were impressed by the service, rooms, breakfast buffet, facilities and courteous and attentive staff. Reception was busy most mornings catering to checking in and checking out customers and large tour groups mostly from Spain - which was not an issue. The large lounge area next to reception is often occupied by people on laptops researching this and that (us inlcuded) so it would be much nicer if the bar/coffee shop was open for refreshments. We cannot fault the staff and take our hat off to the Manager who upon our return visit remembered us and offered us an upgrade. The gym is small but well equiped, however we did not have an opportunity to try the hamam. The hotel is in the centre of the city and very convenient to the metro and shops. We noticed police patrols and buses in the area on a few occassions. Although we did often go out at night and walked back on a number of occasions I would not recommend this if you are travelling alone. Athens is a very different city to the one I remember 7 years ago and the changes will obviously continue for quite some time.

Room Tip: The best views are at night from the pool deck and cocktail bar. The views of the acropolis are sens...
