We wanted to stay in a "good" area that was safe at night, with good hotel facilities, and somewhere where you would not be woken every five minutes by excessive street noise, traffic noise and sirens! We were not bothered about being too close to the City centre - after all in Athens everything is accessible by the integrated public transport system or even taxis. As we were only staying one night, we wanted a good nights sleep, air conditioning, a spacious clean well-appointed room and bathroom, and good breakfast. This hotel ticked all those boxes.
Our room was very spacious, very clean and well appointed - large wardrobes, safe, seating area and very comfortable beds with crisp, clean sheets and luxurious bedding. The bathroom was spotless and had lovely complimentary toiletries and bathrobes with slippers. The jacuzzi bath was nice with piping hot water at all times, and the room even had a balcony. We slept very well, and breakfast the next morning was varied - cereals, fruit juice, hot beverages, hot breakfast choice (eggs (fried and scrambled), bacon), toast, cold buffet selection (meats, cheese, Greek salad with feta and olives), croissants, rolls, tinned fruit, fresh fruit, Greek yogurts and even cake!
The only downside was the night we stayed there was a coach load of young people, who came down to breakfast when we did, and like locusts, devoured everything in sight and it took a while for the staff to replenish. But the reception staff were helpful and the hotel's public areas were clean and welcoming.
I would stay here again and recommend it to others - be aware that the local area is a little "run down" but the hotel is a little gem in the midst of it all, and as we walked around Athens we noticed that much of it is now looking "run down" (rubbish piles everywhere, streets in need of repair, stray dogs and cats everywhere!)
