If you have read any reviews of the Omonia neighborhood, believe them. It is not the safest of places, as anyone in the area, including the taxi drivers will tell you, so if you are by yourself or just a couple, I highly recommend staying in another part of town closer to the Acropoli area. We had a group of 8 and it was fine.
This hotel seemed better than reviews upon first inspection. New furniture in the rooms and decent size rooms made us happily surprised. However, when it came time to using the room, it was disappointing to say the least. Our biggest problem was the noise. The hotel is on a busy busy road and the noise does not stop at all. We literally did not sleep all night because of how loud it was. Trucks and motorcycles going all night. The next problem was the fact that I found a dirty rag in my pillowcase. The sheets seemed ok but that turned me off a bit and the bedspread was a bit nasty. Next, the shower was super tiny! I understand small showers in Europe are the norm but this shower was not even a square- it cut off the corner so you constantly hit your back on the shower handles by turning, and I am by no means a big person. The last problem was the hookers using the corner outside as a base. We might not have noticed them but we were enjoying the bar which was outside on the sidewalk with plants partially blocking the view of the street and they were everywhere trying to get some clients. So a bit awkward if you aren't used to seeing that.
On the bright side of this place, it had friendly people working there. No complaints on that side. They offered breakfast which was ok, nothing special but they had it which was nice. They also had a nice bar outside with cheap Greek beers which was a nice way to end the night and like I mentioned before, they had plants blocking the street so it was a little more covered than just sitting on the street. And even though the neighborhood is a bad one, it is just a 20 minute walk to the plaka and Acropolis and less than 5 minutes to the Omonia metro station.
Room Tip: If there is any possibility of getting a room off the streets I would ask for that. It is loud off t...
