“Best value in Vouliagmeni :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

We came here for our final night desperate to get out of Athens (ugh). We had a rental car, so we went to a number of hotels in the area and this one stood out. We ended up paying about 50$ more than we had wanted to, but the budget hotels were budet rooms at $100 a pop and we were not willing to pay so much for so little!
The ladies at the front desk were charming and helpful. We slept so well that we missed breakfast and ran downstairs 10 minutes after it had finished, the staff were really nice and bought us lots of coffee while we ate!
The room was huge with a gorgeous balcony, we went to the little market nearby, bought a few bottles of mythos and enjoyed a great sunset while checking what the web said about eating.
We didn't find a good place to eat. The Italian restaurant in the hotel is 'real' Italian, so no pizza's, my other half had a bug that he wanted pizza or fish so we went looking on foot. Sadly the restaurants were severely overpriced, even for Greece and the food quality was mediocre. In the restaurant we finally went to, the waiters were snobby about us ordering a pizza between us, snobby waiters irritate me.
Overall, would most certainly stay in the hotel again :)

“Definetely not a 4-star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I stayed in this hotel for 2 days during last July. The hotel is located in Vouliagmeni, one of the finest areas of Athens.
The hotel has a decent location, close to the sea and to a fine Italian restaurant. The room was spacious as well, with beautiful view.
On the negative side, the rooms were dated. The breakfast was really bad. For example, there was no fresh orange juice available, no milk, no variety in cheese/ham, no variety in sweets etc. I think this is not acceptable for a hotel of its standard and price.
Overall, a definetely over-rated choice. I would definetely not visit it again.

“Okay; But Would Have Chosen Another Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2009

The room and bathroom were very small; not exactly what we had hoped ! They did not provide a shuttle service as listed on their web site, if I had another choice. " DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE WEBSITE PICTURES " If I knew what I know now about this Hotel during my research of a Hotel for my HONEYMOON; I definitely would have chosen another Hotel.
OVERALL : Great Hospitality; Good Breakfast.
THE REST OF THIS HOTEL LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED !

“Nice on the outside, old on the inside”

Overall: This hotel is rated higher than what you will find in reality.
Location: It is located near the beaches, but not on the beach. There is not a lot around here except the beach. There are other hotels and restaurants within walking distance. For any city attractions you will need a taxi. We found our single biggest cash drain was taxi fares. Since traffic is bad and you don't want to drive yourself, it is best to take a taxi, but fares add up and taxi rides from here can be long.
TIP: If you take a taxi, get the hotel's address business card so you can show it to the taxi driver, otherwise you will have problems explaining where you need to go.
Beaches: Paid entry to the beaches. Small children are free. Beaches are about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Checkin-Check-out: No issues
Facilities: The property is in a mixed hotel/residential area. It is fairly plain looking from street level. The hotel has a rooftop sitting area (nice view), a street level restaurant and a second floor casual restaurant and bar (the second floor level serves as the breakfast area). The lobby is clean and white with one elevator.
Room: Your room key is attached to a large metal weight that is used to maintain the electricity when you enter your room. You can give front desk this huge key chain when you go out, and get it back when you come in agian. The biggest surprise is that the rooms and halls were old and appeared to be needing a desparate refreshing. The carpets were old and worn, the rooms were basic, there was a separate A/C control for a unit on the balcony which was loud and created a large pool of water. The doors to the hall were thin and you could hear lots of noise from cleaning staff (although the staff was very nice - as always the cleaning staff are overlooked). Our noise otherwise was not too bad because we were there in low season. Our room faced the building next door which was residential so you will see regular life (e.g people's laundry drying). The paint needed to be redone on the balcony barrier and the barrier itself (wood) did not look too secure. Note that the restaurant and lobby were nicely kept, but the rooms did not have the same attention and maintenance.
Food: We tried the restaurant at the hotel and it was quite good. It is inside/outside and segrated from the street by hedges. If you go eat late, you might need a reservation as they seem to get business from people who do not stay there. We also tried some places nearby and you will find other choices around by walking.
Breakfast: Good assortment of food hot and cold at this breakfast buffet. The only item I missed was real orange juice.
Instant Teller: Once we needed cash and it took a while, but there is a bank machine near a strip plaza next to a drug store and grocery store on the secondary road that leads you towards the hotel. This is a good thing to know, because you may need reasonably priced snacks and cash.

“Decent Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2008

We stayed in two rooms at this hotel as it book-ended our trip to Mykonos.

DECOR: We were a little disappointed with the rooms because we had booked through a website that listed this as a "Superior" hotel (on a Basic/Superior/Deluxe scale). That being said, the rooms were clean. The first room we stayed at was on the first floor and the chairs on the balcony were in a state of complete disrepair. The room we stayed at on the last night was on the fourth floor; the air conditioner in this room was situated over the left side of the bed and one time it dripped on me... I was a little worried but over the course of the night I remained dry. The bathrooms were in good shape but the bathroom on the fourth floor was half the size of the first. There are in-room safes but you must obtain a key from the front desk. Ultimately both rooms were clean but a little drab, other than that they were fine.

FOOD: The breakfast was definitely above average! This was served on level one. It was a buffet style with a variety of croissants, eggs (fried and a scrambled/feta cheese style), meats, cereals, juices and coffee/tea. It was really very good and a highlight of our staying here.

One night we ate at LaBoheme, the hotel's Italian restaurant. The food was really quite good and the service was excellent. Sadly the decor, as in other parts of the hotel, was drab and in need of an update. Other than that it was surprisingly good!

STAFF: The staff was outstanding! Very friendly and helpful. No language barriers.

LOCATION: Litous St is pretty nice and has some beaches along it. Getting to the nearest Metro station was not walkable and we had the hotel call for a cab. The cabs charge a 2 euro sur-charge when the hotel calls and in total cost about 9 euros to get to the nearest Metro stop. It is a good idea to take a hotel business card on your way out because this is NOT the "Plaza Hotel" that most cab drivers think of. When we returned to the Metro stop we had four cab drivers talking to each other and using GPS to try and find Litous St (pronounced LEE-twos).

QUITE: The rooms were relatively quiet even when our neighbors were not. The big complaint, the fire alarm went off at about 3 am on our first night. By itself I would not mention it as I would be glad the fire alarm works.

However, the fire alarm went off at least once ever night (up to 3 times one night). Keep in mind, this hotel book-ended our trip so even when we returned after a week the fire alarm would still go off at least once. It only woke us up the one night, the other times were earlier, before we were sleeping.

  • Disliked — Fire alarm issues
