We stayed at this hotel for 1 night. We arrived late on the 4th of October, and had to leave early the following morning to catch a flight to Rome.
The hotel itself was fine, but when we checked out in the morning, I had 3 postcards that required sending, that i hadn't had a chance to drop in a post box. They already had stamps on them, and upon leaving asked the duty manager to post them for me, to which he agreed.Needless to say, this was a month ago and NONE of the addressees have received their postcards.
All i can say is, don't ask them to post anything for you.

Stayed at Austria Hotel due to reccommendation of Lonely Planet guide. What was wrong? Rooms old & dirty. Walls had dirty finger marks, floors grubby, especially in bathroom. Mould in & smell in bathroom was disgusting. Supposed to have delightful balcony? - yeah the views are great but the tables & chairs covered with cigarette butts & dust - no way we could sit out there. Staff rude & unhelpful. Elevator wouldnt come to 2nd floor (bad when you have 4 large suitcases). In future I would pay 20-30 euro more & stay somewhere better. This place was crap!

My wife and I stayed here for one night. The room was not very clean, the shower tub was an uncomfortable design where you had to sit down to shower, the paint on the ceiling was peeling off, the interior lining of the closet was peeling off (we were afraid to hang our clothes), there was a large hole in the bathroom that exposed the pipes, and the toilet didn't flush all the way.. Front desk clerks not very warm & friendly. My wife may have been bitten by bed bugs or fleas. Other than that, the location was great, walking distance to the Acropolis, near nice residential area and restaurants.

We were a group of four women travelling together. We were assured of a room at the Hotel Austria that was to be held until 3:00 pm. We were excited becasue of it's location to the Acropolis. However, upon arrival at 2:15 we found that they had supposedly given away our room at 1:00pm. This I highly doubt because only one couple entered the hotel during the hour and a half we spent in the lobby trying to find another hotel in Athens. The desk clerks were very rude and refused to assist us in our search for another hotel. After making 13 phone calls and having no luck, one of the desk clerks THREW a phone book of hotels at us, and we were able to procure another place to stay. True Hotel Austria is a discount hotel, I would discount it totally and find another place to stay.
