I stayed here April 5, 6, 7 2008 and would never do it again. The hotel is very shabby and needs an update terribly (or a total demolition may be preferred). The website touted it as a very nice resort with wonderful views of the Acropolis, with large clean rooms and an excellent restaurant. When I arrived I knew immediately that this was not the case. The electricity in my room did not work (no lights) because the knob attached to the key was malfunctioning and when I confronted the management they assured me it was functional. 20 minutes of arguing later, they offered me a partial refund. I paid 70 Euro for this room and they offered me a 10 euro (about $15) discount. I took it and dealt with it. They came up and fixed the electricity, and I almost wish they didn't--when the lights came on the room was filthy. There were 3 beds in the room (all twin. I was told there would be 2 queens and a sofabed) and all were disgustingly filthy. The bed that was cleanest was awful, and I'm VERY glad I took my own sheets. The bedspreads were covered with cigarette burns and holes and the sheets and pillows were stained yellow and green (I don't want to know why). I decided maybe it would be better to go down and eat dinner (I was very hungry after my 14 hour flight) and I should have gone out to a taberna. Dinner was disgusting. The waitresses came by and literally SLOPPED the food (some was unidentifiable) on the plates and dashed off. They don't come by to ask if you would like more water or anything else, they just leave. The only thing that was nice were the oranges for dessert. They were the sweetest and juiciest oranges I have ever had. Other than that orange, the hotel was revolting and the management needs to either update it or knock it down and rebuild. The "amazing view" I saw was of the bus garage and the back alley, and the 4 dead birds (happily rotting away) on my "balcony".
If you value your money or your health, stay away from the Hotel Candia!
