Concerning the location, I guess it is the best hotel in Athens. At walking distance from the metro, the Acropoli, the shopping district of "Plaka", and, a little bit far away (10 min) from Monastiraki square.
The hotel is clean, rooms are adequately equipped, staff is friendly and very efficient.
Unique roof garden with bar service and restaurant, with a stunning view to the acropoli, the temple of Zeus and the hill of Lycabetton. Breakfast (included) is served here every morning. An unforgettable place.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights--first night into Athens and last night of the trip heading back to the US. Perfect location--very central to Acropolis, restaurants, etc. Hotel staff was exceptionally helpful with every question we had. Rooms were basic, but clean (we had a budget crisis room!). Bathroom was nice and spacious with fantastic olive oil toiletries. The rooftop had a nice restaurant, but really I would recommend just going up there for drinks--the view is spectacular!

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary vacation in November with 2 couples. The 6 of us thorougly enjoyed our stay, the room with a great view, the location, the food in the roof top restaurant,and the friendly, helpful staff. We rented a caravan and they let us park it on the sidewalk right by the front door as parking is scarce and crowded. We walked to the tourists sites, very convenient.

The location of this hotel is amazing, so close to the Acropolis and right by a metro station. The view from the restaurant is absolutely stunning and the food is also very good and not too expensive. Before going I read that some of the rooms can be quite noisy (its on a main road) but this wasn't the case for us as we had a room away from the road.
All the staff were very friendly and really made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend the Athens Gate Hotel!
