Conference trip to the hotel for 4 nights. Staff all very responsive and helpful. Food excellent. Rooftop breakfast restaurant memorable due to wonderful view of Acropolis which is within walking distance (about 20 mins). National Gardens also just 200 metres away so very easy to go for a morning run or evening stroll.

Inside the hotel it is fitted out to the highest standards with marble bathroom, period furniture. A place to rest, relax and have your spirits uplifted.

There is some slight need for renovation (eg lift doors have small scratch marks) but these were truly minor relative to the overall ambience and service levels. Would stay there any time I am in Athens and budget is not overly constrained.

We had only 24 hours in Athens (en route to Greek islands) and chose to stay at Hotel Grande Bretagne. We're SO glad we did. Everything was fantastic! The check-in staff were friendly and not "stuffy". The food served around the pool was great. The gym was good. Concierge was helpful - they recommended and booked a great restaurant, and arranged a private half day tour guide for us (on short notice). Breakfast on the rooftop, with a stunning view of the Acropolis, was delicious.
But best of all .... I left two items of clothing behind when we checked out of the hotel, but didn't realise they were missing until 2 weeks later. I emailed the hotel and they checked 'lost property' and advised that they had the two missing garments. They then posted them home (to Australia) at no cost to me.
The hotel may be expensive but it is money very well spent.

A grand hotel in about perfect position in Athens. All of major sites within walking distance. On the whole excellent service and a fantastic rooftop restaurant with Acropolis views.

My room was well sized but dark and a little jaded, probably did not befit its price. My policy is not to award more than 4 stars to any expensive hotel which charges me €35 for wifi - come on hotel owners this is an essential like water nowadays.

A beautiful hotel, great location, and excellent service. I would absolutely stay there again. Rooms are nice, and bathrooms are gorgeous. The rooftop restaurant offers a substantial breakfast with some of the best pastries I ever ate! We had dinner in the rooftop restaurant, too, which was also very good food with beautiful views. We also ate lunch in the hotel in the first floor open restaurant off the marble lobby. Concierge was helpful in planning a day excursion...bus picked us up right at the hotel. When we had to check out at an early one morning due to an early flight, they even boxed up a breakfast for each of us that was more food than we could eat! You won't be sorry if you stay here.

Best location near the PLAKA and the museums, almost everything in walking distance. The Hotel is an attractive building with the gone-by-days interior. The view from the roof-top terrace is outstanding. We had a Junior Suite to the Atrium, more quiet as the front facing rooms as there a busy street. The view from our room on 7th floor was none exciting but quiet.
We had some hick-ups with the service, all were friendly but did not deliver the small promised info/service. e.g. how do I switch on the light when I enter the room ? The next switch was 2 meters away. Still don't know.
The roof-top Restaurant has this great view and the food is good. The service for us a bit too fast to clean the table.
My wish, wifi in the room without additional cost and attend to the questions/remarks as said and not after a few hours or never.
