We booked a suite with heating / on suite Jacuzzi.
We got a hotel that was shut down for the winter, yet we had 3 e-mails to the hotel and not one gave a hint that they were shut and where doing internal building work throughout the hotel.
The room was supposed to be a suit, I stayed in a lovely B&B last summer in Scotland that had twice the size and facilities for half the price.
The room was damp as the heating was turned on only half a hour before we arrived.
A the Jacuzzi Ha Ha apparently that translates in this hotel as a power shower that hardly works and a hand dryer with bare wiring is hanging out of the wall photo supplied.
As it was late when we arrived, and we had travelled from Athens air port by bus to Rafina as there is no public transport to Mati so it’s a 11 euro taxi to the Myrto Hotel, and they take the first night as a deposit when you book that was £75.00 well it was a Suite. So lets walk to the sea we said, looked at the map and turn right out of the hotel then left and straight down to the sea ½ mile after ¼ mile you meet the first pack of Dog stopping you from proceeding my wife love dogs and was terrified. So we turned across to go down and braved the next pack and tried to go down the next and where prevented again by even more dogs this time it was the worst so we kept moving side ways to the sea front until we got 4 streets across and turned up and back towards the hotel. When we got back the heating had gone off the temperature in the room was 9.c on my phone. The internet was working so we booked a room for the next night At the Avra Hotel in Rafina for the same price what a world of a difference.
As we spent a week on the intranet before hand looking for bus time tables so we could move along the coast but having read several articles by others that they wont print them in English as someone was selling them and they where free.
So now they don’t do them except in Greek and on the company web site it has a lock on the translation aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr.
Rafina is brilliant nice beach. Good place to catch the ferries.
You catch the bus back to Athens outside The cosmoto office of the main square.
Even though the Greek time table says no bus on Sunday it runs 7 days.
If you wish to be in the centre of Athens ask to be put off at the metro and catch the tube to Cintagmar square next to the parliament.
