A budget option found on the main high street in Viana Do Castelo. Within easy walking distance of the bus and train station and pretty much everything else the town has to offer. My room was up 3 flights of stairs (no lift) and like much of the hotel a bit musty and tired looking, but a decent enough size and had a balcony looking out onto the main street. I had taken the option of having an en suite bathroom only to find later that night that the hot tap on the shower was not working, but the shower head was badly cracked and unusable. Which was annoying after a long hot day, and at €35 was my most expensive stay in northern Portugal. I would have asked to change rooms but by this time it was midnight and i was only staying for the night.
Breakfast was verging on the pathetic. No buffet like i was expecting. Instead i was just presented with a bread roll, jam and some coffee, by a nice enough fellow. I could see a large bowl of fruit in the kitchen, but none was forthcoming.
Good points.... again the location. Staff seem nice, and i was given a guide to the town which proved to be quite useful.
It's ok for a one night stay. Maybe one of the cheapest options in town. But after staying in several residencials and pensions this year, this was the least value for money.
