The front desk staffs were very competent, kindly and courteous.
The room was bright and amply. The ambience was convenient.
The cleaning service was ok, whenever sometimes things like the wash cloth were taken away and not replaced, which was really annoying. I solved the problem by wetting a towel to soap and wash my body.
The “continental” breakfast was ok for me, but I missed my “soft cooked breakfast egg”. I really enjoyed the good pastry, the fruits, and tomatoes.
Points to criticize:
- Only one power socket was not switched off, when pulling out the door card. Under the desk was one socket used for TV and one for the desk lamp. So it was not possible to use the computer with the power supply and having light at the same time. One had always to creep under the desk to change the plugs for working.
- The Internet access was not complementary which is standard in a lot of international business hotels.
- The Wi-Fi in the first floor was overloaded due too much users and had sometime insufficient connectivity.
- Furthermore this room is used by many smokers, a fact that made the stay for a longer time very unpleasant.
- AC Porto claims to have 20 TV channels, but except for a few (BBC, CNN, and Discovery Channel). They are only in Portuguese. In the age of satellite TV it should be no problem to have at least one French and German TV channel.
- Information about political news can only be obtained by Internet.
- The “free newspapers” is not really helpful since they are all in Portuguese.
- In good business hotels international newspapers are standard.
