i choose the hotel for its location.with the metro you easely got to the cintycentre or to the trainstation(for a day trip to Braga,Aveiro,Guimareas or Lisboa)
Rooms where ok,Beds where good and nice lenght(husband is quit tall).
Breakfast is good,I love the fresh fruits en juices.
Ask for a room high,we give it up als preference but we end on at level 5(thats a pity)
pro,because its not in the city centre you dont have no noise at night.
the little restaurant what was mention earlyer by some travveler its a good restaurant!and cheap.25 euros, for main corse,drinks and desserts for 2 personson. the cais de ribeira is more like 50-60 euros,bu t with a excellent view.

We stayed again on the Hotel for one night. We had a reservation for a superior room, but as the hotel was full, the staff offered a night on a junior suite and the free parking at the hotel’s garage. The room was very big and the quality was good. It also has a big bathroom and an extra living room with a big space, where you can watch the Tv.
The rest of the hotel was like on the last time. Nothing amazing but good for a staying.

I stayed for 2 nights, the bed is small, pillows are not good and the walls are so thin you can hear pretty much what's happening on the next room, so forget a "good night sleep".
Need s refurbishment.

Staff is friendly, breakfast is fair enough. If you are on a high floor direction city you will have a great view.

Is located 1m walk from the subway station 24 de Agosto, however is relatively close to the city centre to walk.

I'd say Porto has better choices...

The area as other reviewers have pointed out is not the nicest, but bear in mind that much of Porto is in a similiar, run down condition and although the hotel building is quite big the entrance by car is not clear, meaning that we had to drive around the zone for about 20 minutes before we chanced onto it.

The Vila Gale Porto opened sometime in the 90's and doesn't look to have been updated since. The look and the decoration of the hotel felt very worn and it did not look like a four star hotel. We took a "superior" room on the 17th floor which came with breakfast, minibar and parking included, the last of which was an especially nice touch.

The room however was very drab and a bit old fashioned, it also stank of smoke, even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. Luckily our air conditioning unit died the first night of our stay and so we were kindly moved to an identical but non smelly room.

The services available are quite good. The hotel has a pool/sauna on the top floor which can be used for €10 per day or free if you get a massage. There is also a restaurant and bar. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of hot and cold dishes.

Overall the location is not bad, we walked to the city centre in 10 minutes, but apart from the spa and free parking there is not much that stands out in my mind. It really feels like a 3.5 not a 4 star hotel.
