This historic pousada was a highlight for us. The location above the city and overlooking the valley below was very picturesque. The grounds behind the building was like the hotel itself, a fascinating place to explore. The many common rooms were spacious and impressive with antique furniture, often found displayed in museums, on which you could sit and read and just soak up the atmosphere. The breakfast and dining room was as impressive as the long high main ceiling outside the rooms. The centuries old church beside the pousada added to the character of the place. The lovely swimming pool behind was very impressive and adds greatly to the hotel. The food was fine and the service was too. We hope to return. The city is wonderful, too!
