This hotel is situated only a few minutes walk from the Bom Jesus sanctuary which sits on a hill outside Braga. The whole area is very peaceful although when we arrived at 6pm on a sunny Sunday chaos reigned with cars parked everywhere. However, as soon as the locals had gone home calm was restored for the rest of the week.
The hotel itself is modern with good facilities for guests although it does lack a restaurant (except for a good continental breakfast). For dinner, guests will be directed to a sister hotel, the Elevador (situated close-by) which has a well appointed restaurant with panoramic views over Braga. There they serve a 3 course dinner for 19 Euros. However, apart from a wonderful dessert table the food was nothing special. Just a short walk in the opposite direction from the Lago are several local restaurants which serve good food. The second one up the narrow road was particularly good and had English translations.
The rooms are basic but comfortable, clean and modern. The bath was very narrow so if you have a wide girth you might find it uncomfortable. One side of the hotel faces the mountain road which is not busy but is cobbled so if you want the window open at night (there is air conditioning) ask for a room on the entrance side. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Above all, for the price it was very good value.
