We highly recommend this hotel, immediately adjacent to the church of Bom Jesus. By 6.00 p.m. the foot tourists have gone, and you have the lovely site to yourselves. Our room (smallish) had a balcony overlooking the church (loud chiming bell silent at night!). Limited choice for dining on site: the restaurant of the adjacent hotel (Elevador), a little pricey but worthwhile for the views.

This is an attractive hotel set in beautiful grounds and with stunning views of the Bom Jesus do Monte site and out over Braga. Our room was at the front of the hotel - I'm not sure whether there are others at the rear with different views. The rooms at the front each have a tiny balcony - enough to stand on and take in the scenery but there literally isn't space to put a chair or sit down. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast but this doesn't matter at all: there's a super terrace cafe just a few yards away, with equally fine views. We had dinner once in the restaurant at the Hotel do Elevador (also a few yards away) and considering that it's the only restaurant on this hill top and therefore has something of a captive market I was very impressed. The 'Esteva' Douro wine recommended to me by the waiter was particularly nice. Being outside of Braga itself a car is handy but not essential. There's a half hourly bus service between Braga centre and the foot of Bom Jesus, then a short funicular ride up to the hotel (prices for these are 1.45 and 1.10 euros respectively, for anyone who's interested!). In summary, the hotel is perfectly decent, if not the last word in luxury, and for dramatic views you really can't beat it.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff were very helpful.

The restaurant based in one of the three surrounding hotels overlooks the city of Braga and offers up a great selection of food.

Hotel do Templo also has a swimming pool and cardio workout area which are adequate for those wanting to keep fit while in Braga.

The only down side of this hotel was the internet access. Wireless internet is provided through a third party company for an additional charge and provided on an unsecured network.

Despite what has been announced, there is no swimming pool yet ! Outside this disappointment, this hotel is top class, wonderful location beside the church of Bom Jesus, atop a green hill. Very clean hotel, very large and comfortable rooms, perfect service and friendly receptionist. Excellent price-quality ratio, absolutely recommended !
