“Paradise Island, nice Hotel, bad service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2007

I am a Travel Agent and I went to Porto Santo this June. I went with great expectations about that marvelous Island, and I didn’t get disappointed. Wonderful Island for those who look for a relaxing vacations. The Hotel has one of the best Spa facilities in Portugal, but other services provided to costumers are a little bit disappointing.

Bad aspects:
- Lack of food variety, and don’t try to go to the restaurant when is almost closing, will will get nothing to eat (figure of speech of course)
- The Restaurant workers are slow and with a "close face" attending to the costumers
- The receptionists most of the times don’t give the right in formations about the Island, probably because they are recruited for short time, and then they recruit others, so they don’t have time to know the Island (that is so small) better
- Some times windy weather (but Cabo Verde is worst)
- For those who look for fun and night entertainment forget it. There are some Pubs/Bars at the weekend 6 kilometers far from the Hotel, but there is always a taxi nearby

Positive aspects:
- This Island is Paradise,
- If you look for calm, tranquility, relax, you are in the right place
- Wonderful sea. Clean, blue as sky, and calm waves
- Magnificent beach, 9 km of peace and tranquility
- Good weather all year, but better (of course) in Summer time.
- Nice inhabitants
- Good choice for people who enjoys SPA´s

Short notes:
Near the Hotel you just have 1 restaurant and a Snack-bar (João do Cabeço) that has the most tasty food specialties in the all island.

Have a nice trip

“The place to go for a relaxing holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2005

We had definite mixed feelings about this hotel. We had a junior suite on the 7th floor which was huge, with two balconies and impressive sea views. The air conditioning was inefficient and the bed very hard. The rooms were cleaned daily. The restaurant was fine serving reasonable buffet breakfast and dinner. If you want to eat out the town is 3 miles away. We used to walk into town and back each day along the beach and this was quite pleasant, however we did not try this at night. The hotel bar was a disaster being right on top of the reception area - certainly not the place to have to have a relaxing drink. We used to buy drinks from the nearest supermarket (2 miles away) and spend the evenings on our balcony - at least the room had a fridge to keep things cool. We didn't partake of the evening entertainment which boasted bingo, karaoke etc and which was also held in the reception area. The swimming pool was a rip off - if you wanted a lounger they were hired out at £3 a day EACH. Similarly if you wanted a lounger on the beach you had to pay the same price. The beach itself was idyllic - 6 miles of sand and not a lot of people around (we were told, however, that the island is very busy in July / August as many people on Madeira have 2nd homes on Porto Santo and holiday in this period). All in all it was a very relaxing holiday - No football shirts, union jack shorts, chavs, lager louts et al - definitely suited to couples with young families who are happy to spend their holiday on the beach.

“nice hotel”

It's a nice hotel! The rooms are confortable, breakfast was a nice buffet, the beach club is ok but expensive...
The only real problem i found in this hotel is the fact that it is located away from the town and that is a problem due to the difficulty to get a taxi after midnight!!!
