Have previously stayd in hotel zone in Funchal and found it inconvenient - especially in January when more likely to rain! Need to be able to climb 39 steps to reception & rooms on 2nd floor. Quite difficult when arriving with heavy luggage. Had very nice clean room at front of hotel with small balcony. Breakfast same every day as mentioned previously by other reviewers. After 2 weeks it was rather monotonous!

We use this bed and breakfast facilty for adding days to our timeshare weeks. Situated close to Funchal Cathedral, it is very clean and comfortable, with on suite bathroom. Well priced, with or without breakfast.
However, do be warned, that access and egress, is by a very steep staircase.

We booked a week here after reading reviews on mytripadvisor. What a great place, it's bang in the centre of Funchal in Cathedral Square. Well away from the tourists and the hotel district, but within a few minutes walk of everywhere. Market / marina / shops / restaurants / busses & the Museum of Electricity! Spotlessly clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff if you need them. Basic breakfast, always tea or coffee, 2 rolls, ham & cheese, 2 butters and ceral & a yogurt. Same each day, but it gets the bowels working! Checkout's no problem, leave your bags and come back for them anytime - buzz Reception if you've left your key. We had a side room on the East side facing the sexy underwear shop even though we requested a front facing room. No real problem with this except there is an aircon unit on the balcony below which drones on all night so sleeping with the windows open is a bit noisy, so we suggest an extra glass of wine before bed time. Would we recommend it to anyone else? Yes and we will return to walk a few more Levadas soon
