We arrived at the hotel shocked at its location. We had been unable to get directions via the usual means, ie no sat nav directions, google earth etc. It is 9Kms outside Camerra De Lobos. This is a definite hotel that's a get away from it all, which would be lovely if the service was not so appalling. The sad thing was there is so much to offer at the hotel but the service spoils all the potential benefits. It was common to wait an hour and a half to two hours for your starter to arrive in an evening, one evening, having waited two hours for a bowl of soup and a further 30 minutes for our main course, we were then told there was only enough spaghetti for one portion!!!! How can you run out of Spaghetti!!. There were 18 tables in the restaurant with diners on, no more than 30 people to serve. When we raised it with the staff they were apologetic but unable to produce a manager. I will be writing to the Madeira Tourist Board to enquire how the Hotal managed to get 5 stars.

Be careful about this hotel.... it realy sucks... going there is like taking you money and put it on the Wc !
Its not a 5 star hotel, but yes a -5 star !
I did have dinner one time and it seams that the food was very old!
ITS A NOT FRIENDLY HOTEL

This hotel does not offer 5 star service, it is understaffed and out of stock of simple things like a bottle of coke or a half bottle of house wine. The over worked staff try hard, but the overall service to guests is slow, disjointed or even non existant. We waited 45 minutes for a cup of coffee in Henry's bar, suffering the horrible colour scheme of red and orange chairs and matching walls, struggling to talk over the piped music and loud tv, hardly an after dinner ambient atmosphere. We couldn't complain because there was no one behind the bar . The large restaurant and other public areas all lack atmosphere.

This is really a lovely hotel. The infrastructures are really good. I've really enjoyed the pool (the jacuzzi and the turkish bath were ok too, though I think that the turkish bath was way too illuminated for allowing proper relaxing). Since it's a "quinta", there's lots of things to see notice that you'll need walking boots for longer walks). There were some things which could be better. For starters, the hotel stays a little far away from most things. That means you'll be needing a car if you intend to see other places or if you don't want to eat at the hotel. The bar services need improvement (the pool bar is a simple example of this. Most of the time, you had to wait long periods for getting a drink).

However, this was the first hotel I've stayed in which had natural juice for breakfast (I can assure you that the strawberry juice was amazing!). I didn't eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment on the food.
