I was toying between giving this hotel either a 4 or 5 - the 5 won due to it's superb location! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the town and harbour/marina with stunning views.
Our room was good and very clean. The hotel staff were all friendly and efficient - we did not visit the restaurant, but the breakfast was good. Swimming pool / garden area also very pleasant. It is only a short walk into the old town (uphill on the way back!) where there are plenty of restaurants. My only very minor complaints were some road noise from the front of the hotel and not particuarly good pillows. I would recommend this hotel.

i will keep this short but sweet, this hotel is perfect! great location great food, great swimming pool, great staff! i loved every minute of it!!

Just returned from a quick week in the sun. We wanted a quality hotel, quiet to relax, central to interesting places on a half board basis. This hotel ticked all boxes. We were treated with great respect and consideration both by the reception staff and the restaurant waiters. Nothing is too much trouble. The evening meals were well prepared 4 courses with coffee as an extra. We had a standard room 316 this had a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. We were jealous of the sea facing balconies but of course you pay quite a lot more for these. I particularly liked the orchard a fruit and vegetable garden which was very interesting and the.caged birds were also interesting to see. Just one down side the electric lighting system in the bedrooms was the most complicated you could imagine we did manage to get it to work but still not sure how we did it. The hotel is a lovely base with a 5 to 10 minute walk away from the cable car and the marina. We loved it. I would certainly return.

Hotel very good standard large clean rooms and bathrooms, good choice of breakfast but more importantly if you want to make a base for walking or touring the island this is perfect - it even has underground parking which is essential in Funchal.
