Budget prices, but not budget service or facilities!
Quiet, backstreet location, but only a 5 -10 minute wak from the main town square, shops, cafes and seafront.
Spotlessly clean everywhere, especially our spacious room and bathroom, with fresh bedlinen and towels every day.
Staff fall over themselves to be friendly and helpful (but not creepily so).
Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room cost and comprised an extensive - all you can eat - hot and cold continental buffet, with a special mention for the delicious selection of fresh fruit.
Although there are dozens of great cafes, bars and restaurants within 5 minutes' walk, after busy days sightseeing and touring, we chose to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant every evening - and the three course dinners were tasty and great value for money - approx €15 - €20 per head. Plus - fantastic views!
There's a spa in the basement, but we never got around to investigating. No swimming pool though.

Stayed at this hotel last week and the rooms were a good size, it was clean, quiet, and in a really great location for everything in Funchal. The staff were helpful especially when I had problems trying to phone my tour company and got an answer message in Portuguese. The sun terrace on the roof gives you great views and the food at breakfast we good and plentiful.

Great hotel, staff was incredibly friendly, meals were amazing, the view from the restaurant and the rooftop terrace was breathtaking! Location was incredibly convenient, close to everything! Would love to stay here again!

The Room
- real tidy
- nice size
- with balcony and other needed stuff like (tv and air conditioning)
- big and clean bath room
- good acoustic insulation (especially important with the air conditioning - you can sleep as long as you want

The staff
- really friendly employees, especially at the reception desk
- with better english language competence than mine

The food
- a good assortment for breakfast for one week
- great variance for dinner, and a real good cook !!!
- and a real good espresso at the hotel bar

The recommendation
for families, singles and couples, but you must not be annoyed by looking at business people

The position
- not far from the coast and the old town
- a lots of shops and restaurants and bars in short distance

In short nice hotel and staff. I expected that Madeira itself is more green (flower island), but if you go by foot and walk through the town and along the levadas the flower island is visible. My wife especially enjoyed the shopping till the late evening.
