“Very nice, with some shortcomings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I spent a week at this hotel in January 2012. Our room and it's bathroom was very nice and perfectly maintained and serviced. The views from the hotel are very nice - if you stay at the southern side, that is! The harbour and most of the city is in full view.
Hotel service is nice. Entertainment in the evening is good, but not extraordinary, and sometimes rather dutiful. Breakfast is quite good, but not exceptional. Evening banquests are quite boring, but fullly adequate. The lifts at this hotel are definetly not appropriatly designed and programmed and poses a daily frustration for most of the guests. And why is the hotel offering transport to and from central Funchal when reservations should be made as much as 24 hours in advance?
To sum it up: A nice and well managed hotel, but with some obvious shortcomings.

“Very Modern, Good Location, Nice View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

After spending a magnificent 6 days / 5 nights at this hotel in December, we can recommend it as a great place to stay in Funchal - Madeira.
Great hotel, very modern, it is possible to verify that it was renewed. The sea view rooms have fantastic views, and others have mountain views that is also very cute. This hotel is located in the city center, but the location is high, so I recommend renting a car because it can take advantage and visit all the island.
The room is simple and very clean, safe access is possible through a payment of 5 €.
Breakfast is good and varied and has a magnificent view over the Funchal Bay.
The hotel features indoor and exterior pools and a spa.
In conclusion I recommend it to all who wish to spend a great days at Funchal.

“Nice hotel with a stunning view!”

After spending a week in this hotel in December, it is hard to imagine to find a hotel with better views over Funchal. The hotel was modern and clean. Our room was on the 5th floor(full seaview) and got one in a corner of the building so had a spectacular view over the city and mountains. The room itself was nice with a comfortable bed and big cushions. There was a minibar, a safe for extra charge and a flatt tv. The bathroom was big with a big window overlooking the poolarea and mountains! The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke english and fluent german too. We used the room service a couple of times and it worked well. The pool area was really nice and the spa too. I really enjoyed the spa facilities! Maybe the only negative thing was the restaurant; the food did not reach the 4-star standard every night.. But in Funchal there are many good restaurants from Pizza Hut to expensive places to choose from.. The hotel lied on a cliff, but you could easy get into city centre from the ground floor. It took about 10 min. to walk. There was also a shopping centre, Dolce Vita, down the road. All in all, I would recommend this hotel :)

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a seaview room!

“Relaxing, clean, modern with super views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

As a young couple in our twenties we were warned that Madeira would not have much to offer us - those people were wrong - we had a wonderful 2 week holiday.

The hotel was very clean, wonderfully modern, extremely comfortable with lovely friendly staff. The pool area is nice, quiet and comfortable despite the noisy road next to it - you do get used to it so it really didn't bother us. The Spa is wonderful - unfortunately you have to pay, but well worth it for a day. We paid for one of the comfortable large sun loungers and got the spa included for the day. The rooms are a good size with table area, Tv and everything else you could need. Sadly the balconies are tiny. Our shower broke and they fixed it within 10 minutes.
One downside - the nighttime entertainment at the hotel is awful - much better to head to the old town to eat in one of the outdoor restaurants and watch the world go by.
The hotel is a short walk from the old town (20 min) which suited us. Not ideal for some though.

Madeira itself was wonderful, peaceful walks by the sea, amazing restaurants, quirky art shops and amazing sights.

All in all a lovely relaxing holiday.

“Back again and another good surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We've been in the Fourviews Baia in the past through an agency but this time we have decided to book everything on their website since they had an appealing promotion. The process ran smoothly with direct contact with the hotel staff and on our arrival everything was according to the reservation.

We have realised new people on the front desk, very good looking and offering us a warm welcome and information, slightly better then the last time. They have recognised our surnames on the system and a returning offer to the SPA was given, that was a surprise!

We were placed on the 10th floor, however we've asked before for a lower floor. That was not to worry at the end since the view was amazing, we couldn't stop thinking on how good the view would be for the NYE fireworks show, the problem is that we couldn't afford another visit soon..

Our 7 day stay was great, not really bad to point except for an unpleasant surprise when the window cleaners were on duty one day and we got surprised with one of them hanged ouside our window! No one told us they would be working on that day.

Breakfast was excellent, warm and colds and plenty of fruit. We opted for one culinary workshop and it was excellent! The views from the restaurant are so nice that you get distracted from the rest.

The evening show's were a bit boring sometimes after the 3rd night but we went walking downtown and we found lots of bars and street entertainment. It took us around 15m to walk down and then we got a cab back which cost us 4 euros.

We only went once to the SPA since they gave a free treatment and it went well, very clean, professional and relaxing. After our treatments we spent sometime by the indoor pool which for us was a bit cold ( 25 C ) ..

In overall everything went well, modern, comfortable and friendly hotel. The plus is definitely the service and the views from the hotel. Location is also very easy to go around town if you like exploring yourself.

Room Tip: The higher rooms have better views and are quieter too.
