I booked a triple room for me, my mom (64 y/o) and her colleague (69 y/o) for a business conference they were attending in Funchal. From the airport, you can take the bus but we opted for a cab since we had A LOT of luggage. Most of the cab drivers are honest, they will use the meter and will cost more or less 30 euro.

The staff was very nice and helpful and they can speak English (a very big plus!). The location is great, it is within walking distance to the conference area and it is very near to the major bus stops and city center. This was great for my mom and her friend since they both have bad knees and backs.

The breakfast was adequate and satisfying for us, but if you are looking for more options, the hotel is near a lot of restaurants and the market area.

Our room had no AC. With the 3 of us and only 1 fan, we had to keep the window open. Unfortunately at that time, the building facing our room window was under construction so it got a little noisy with the windows open. Nothing too disruptive though since at night they're not working.

Perhaps my only con here is the charges for the wifi, fridge and safe usage. The wifi costs somewhere between 5-20 euro (depending on the minutes). If you have no computer, you can rent one at the lobby. The fridge and safe we didn't use.

Overall we had a pleasant stay. If you can manage a room without AC, I would recommend this hotel.

This was our second visit to Funchal & we decided to be more central this time rather than "way out west". Our room faced onto the street & the loose manhole covers were noisey but no great problem.. The room was fine the shower powerful & I can live without air-con.
The staff were most pleasant & helpful & always smiled. Great location only minutes walk to a variety of bars & restaurants. Small roof top pool great to cool off in.
Breakfasts adequate, quite good evening menu, used it twice.I wouldstay here again. .

No air con, dated tangerine bathroom.Buiding work next door to hotel was noisy every morning except Sunday.Swimming pool bar was never open and seemed to be a store for cleaning fluids.The only positive was a good locationWill visit Madeira again but NOT this hotel.

May have small Rooms and may be in need of a little updating, but for the cost and more importantly the location it is ideal.
The staff were great and you will want for nothing.
If you are not hung up over the creature comforts of a top class hotel, then this is the Hotel for you.
