We have stayed here many times over the past 12 years. We were always assured of attentive staff if we had a problem.. Sad to say the management do not follow this now. We made a complaint at the front desk at 4.30 am regards drunken males making music and banging doors and laying about asleep in the corridors.We were advised our complaint would be put to managers. The next day we had to approach the managers only to be informed the same group would be holding a party and disco and they had been told to respect other guests.Needless to say it was another night of no sleep. Again complained at front desk same story and we were not contacted by manager nor were we offered even a gesture which acknowledged the scale of the problems experienced.The hotel breakfast was good ,the waiters waitresses first class.The tables are past their best the chairs have burst seams The bedrooms were adequate and cleaning staff did a great job,but the surroundings are not 5 Star apart from the reception area. We are sad to say we will be going elsewhere on our next visit to Funchal.

Great hotel. I stayed in room 232 and it was a bit nicer than some of my friends room. The hill views are beautiful..Breakfast was very good. You will pay for things such as iron and board was 5e for an hour.

My husband and I had a very nice stay at the Pestana Casino Park Hotel over Christmas with a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. Nice and clean room with a fantastic view over Funchal, great breakfast (continental could be delivered to your room at no extra cost). Nice pool area with a great view of the ocean. Would definitely stay there again!

There are lots of plus points. The hotel is extremely well located on top of a cliff overlooking Funchal, only 0.3 miles from the town. The service is friendly and efficient (though relaxed in pace). There is a wide choice of food for breakfast and the indoor and outdoor pools (plus sauna and steam room) are very good. The rooms are spacious, too, with comfortable beds and thick double curtains so you can have a good nights sleep.
On the downside? The main problem is that Pestana hasn't worked out its extras policy very well. The tennis court, for example, costs ten Euros per hour if you've brought your own rackets and balls, or twice that if you haven't. So it is unused. The same goes for the massage and other services. Silly prices and no customers. At 270 Euros per head for the New Year Gala Dinner I don't expect many customers for that, either!
One last little gripe: Charging for (unreliable) wireless access is very, very old-fashioned - and totally unjustifiable. The Pestana group really needs to wise up.
