This is an awesome place, friendly service, minutes from downtown. However, if you're renting a car, there is no parking for several blocks, the closest street parking is close but be prepared to wake up to insert a coin before 8 am every day. There is local auto park hopefully they can work out a deal to park there, I wouldn't mind paying extra because the hotel was well worth it and very well priced.

I can't speak too highly of this bed and breakfast. Had been staying for the previous 6 nights in one of the most expensive hotels on the island so was expecting a bit of a `come down'. Our en suite room on the ground floor of a house on a quieter side street oposite the main Pensao was large and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was basic but personally served and more than adequate. The father and son team were kindness itself, even driving us (myself and wife) to the bus stop on the morning of our departure. The location is also brilliant as it is very near restaurants (I recommend Embairador Madeirense on Rua dos Barreiros for atmosphere, value for money and lack of touts outside).as well as close to the town centre, bus station, etc.

Upon arrival to the Pensao Mirasol we were greated warmly by Mr. Horta. Mr. Horta was very helpful with offering us information about the hotel and the Island. He also served a hearty breakfast of eggs, bread, jam and coffee. The hotel was a little outdated but with old world charm. It was located on a busy street without sidwalks but within minutes of many restaurants and the center of town. Our room had a nice balcony, television and a decent sized bathroom. The room was cold at night but there were extra blankets in the closet.
Although a 24 hour pensao, I felt as though I was coming in after curfew in the evenings. We would have a few drinks at night and began to feel a bit guilty for arriving late and waking up the night duty person to open the door and give us our key.
Pensao Mirasol was a great value and I would recommend the Pensao Mirasol to persons looking for a quiet and peaceful visit to Madeira.

If you're looking for a place to stay in a great location, with a clean, tidy room, friendly and helpful hosts, great value for money, then come to this b&b. Ok it doesn't have a swimming pool, room safe or tea-making facilities but if, like us, you are going to be out and about all day and really just want somewhere to sleep then this is ideal. Breakfast is a little basic and a bit more choice would not go amiss - perhaps croisssants, more cereals, more choice of toppings for toast, sweet and savoury - but we had enough to eat. The Horta family are very friendly and so helpful - if you need any information you only have to ask. We had a small balcony with lovely views of the sea and the mountains. All in all we had a great stay.
