I found and reserved this Quinta through TripAdvisor. I contacted the Quinta directly by email. I got a quick response in english and the reservation was made very rapidly. Excellent service!
We stayed at the Quinta das Sequoias, in Sintra, for 2 nights. We wish we had planned less time in Lisboa and more in Sintra at that exquisite Quinta. It is such a nice, quiet and romantic area. Sintra and the surroundings (ie. Azenhas do Mar, Cabo da Roca) are charming and unique). There is also a lot to visit and great hiking places near the Quinta. Moreover, Sintra is just a short drive from Lisboa and you can go for a day trip to Lisboa (which we did in order to attend a bull fight at Campo Pequeno).
The Staff (more particularly Jessica) and Candida, the owner, were very very helpful, respectful and kind. They were always smiling, cheerful and happy to help us. They gave us excellent suggestions regarding activities and restaurants. They even gave us a map and highlighted the best itinerary for all the activities we wished to do and it allowed us to save a significant amount of time, considering the traffic in Sintra during the day. They helped us and made all the calls to reserve our tickets for the bullfight. They were very professional and gave us a warm and personal service. We got the best of both world: the personal touch of a Bed & Breakfast along with all the services that we would have had in a 4 or 5 stars hotel. Jessica and Candida speak perfect english. They will do the extra mile to make your stay memorable.
B&B's location: you definitely need a car because the road to get to the Quinta is steep, tortuous, long (2 km) and there are no lights (it can be a bit scary even if you are driving because it is very dark at night)! But the drive is totally worth it. The Quinta is perfectly located on a private and remote property on top of a hill, facing the Pena Palace. The view is spectacular! You can see Sintra's hills and the Pena Palace (really nice at night or when it is surrounded by clouds, especially at full moon).... As mentioned, it is well located and close to all the touristic areas. By the way, there is plenty of parking space and it is free.
B&B: this B&B used to be a country house. They kept that atmosphere and it felt as if the house has a lot of happy memories to share! It is well decorated with a lot of antiques. It has a hint of aristocracy and sophistication, yet it is warm and inviting.
There is a pool, but we did not have the chance (actually the time) to enjoy it. The gardens and the backyard are peaceful and romantic. It is very nice to walk around. The property is beautiful and well maintained.
The bedroom: the bedroom was spacious and very romantic (we got the pink one, with a mini balcony and an amazing view on the Pena Palace). There was a lot of closet space. The bathroom was clean and spacious.
We have to mention that a complementary carafe of Porto was waiting for us in our bedroom! Moreover, the Porto was excellent. They also gave us bottles of water every day. Nice touch which was truly appreciated.
The breakfast: fresh and tasty. A lot of variety: salmon, cold cuts (meat), cheeses, fruits, tomatoes, eggs, cereal, granola, yogurt, bread, home made jam, honey, and a lot of delightful pastries (etc...)! The breakfast area is very nice and is well furnished. There are a lot of interesting antique in the dining room and you can smell a lovely pastry smell in the house during the day.
We loved everything of this Quinta. It is perfect for a romantic get away and is a prime location for day trips around Lisboa and Sintra. We cannot think of any downside. Candida is an excellent host and takes amazing care of every single detail.
We strongly recommend a visit.
