We stayed here on the first night of a week-long tour of Northern Portugal. Very convenient from Lisbon airport. We drove down via Setubal and had a look at the Pousada there and thought we'd perhaps made a mistake in not booking Setubal. However, when we arrived at Palmela, we were not disppointed - the situation is terrific - high on a hill with a church and a ruined church in the vicinity and the public rooms arranged round the cloister - the restaurant is in the former monks' dining room. The bedroom was large and had small stone seats either side at the window (and in the bathroom) with excellent views across the Tagus valley to Lisbon. The Pousada restaurant was absolutely first rate. Palmela itself is a pleasant old town with narrow streets - we found a comfortable bar for a pre-prandial drink.
A very quiet and peaceful stay.
