“Great Stay In Obidos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2007

A lovely little gem in the middle of Obidos. First off, we LOVED Obidos..fabulous little town walled town filled with romance and magic. The hotel is small, 10 rooms, which normally isn't my cup of tea but the service and the extra touches are above and beyond. We were greeted by 3 lovely woman at the front desk who right away delivered a welcome drink, fruit and chocolate cake to our room which had a balcony right next to the castle wall. They replenish the fruit and water daily. The rooms are not over the top luxuriously but comfortable, modern and clean and the balcony makes it magical. There's a nice lounge area with a fireplace and the restaurant is fabulous. Overall the superiour service and little extras put this hotel far above other 4 stars that I've stayed in.

“Incredibly Wonderful Hotel”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night just last week. It was absolutely, a fantastic hotel. We were so impressed. We travel a lot and this hotel totally iwas just amazing. The staff was so kind and helpful, even letting us stay past checkout because we had a later afternoon bus to catch. And the rooms were just beautiful. We had a balcony overlooking the city walls. Sitting out there, enjoying our free welcome cocktail was just heavenly. The location is perfect - right in the walled city. We dined at the hotel restaurant and found that to be just perfect as well. A very good sophisticated meal in a beautful dining room. And the breakfast was great as well. This was a truly perfect stay. We heartily recommend this hotel.

“Beautiful inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2006

This was a real find and on balance a better option than the pousada. It took a while to find the inn but when we did we were given a really warm welcome and were delighted with lovely rooms overlooking the castle walls (quite literally) and the courtyard below where we had dinner later in the evening.

Rooms are tasteful and bathrooms well equipped. We were pleased to be on the higher floor where each room had a small open terrace, rather than on the lower floor which gave onto the restaurant courtyard. Air conditioning was efficient. Fresh fruit, the local speciality cherry brandy and chocolates were replenished every day.

Above all the staff were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and they gave everyone a warm welcome and sense of personal service. They helped us book tickets for the open air opera performance set in the castle grounds - a real treat if you visit in summer.

The whole village is very pretty and popular with tourists. We felt very privileged to be staying there when most visitors had departed at the end of the day.

  • Liked — Historic location and fantastic staff
  • Tips/Secrets — Rooms on the higher of the two floors are better

“Very comfortable-great option if you can't get into the pousada”

This is a very charming little inn located inside the castle walls at Obidos. I was not able to get a room at the pousada and was very pleased with my experience here. I arrived late at night and they had a great restaurant inside the hotel with a wonderful Australian venison carpaccio. The room was very clean with modern plumbing fixtures, a deep bath, a large comfortable bed and a balcony that looked out over a courtyard and the castle walls. Lovely Inn, lovely town!
