Very friendly male receptionists with a very good command of English. Comfortable room overlooked the main thoroughfare to city centre. Metro in front of hotel and bus stop for airport across the road. We had a half hour pleasant walk into the main square. There was enough little restaurants in the area and a supermarket up from the hotel. Took "I hate tourism Lisboa" to Sintra with Miguel. Excellent.

When I read that some people complain about tinny rooms I am amazed. We had a luxurious and spacious room with small balcony for a bargain price last year (as you can see in the pictures). The hotel-staff is very friendly, the location is quite a distance from the city-centre but there is a subway station in front of the hotel that takes you to the Baixa in under 10 minutes. Breakfast is served on the top floor, and is more than OK.
We did so enjoy Lisboa that we are going back in a few weeks and of course we have already booked the same (this) hotel.

Another couple and we stayed here for a long weekend. Our rooms were very different: ours being small with no room to walk between the bed and table without falling over the chair and a shower with standing room only approx 40 x 40 cm. The other couple had enough room to walk around, even a larger chair to sit in. They had a full size bath tube with hand shower and the bathroom itself was large enough for a toilet and bidet. Otherwise comfortable queen size ? (140 cm) beds. The rooms were cleaned, but you don't ever get new drinking glasses unless you ask. Free internet and reasonable minibar.
Our rooms were on the 6th floor, ours to the street, but we were not bothered by street noise. Our friend's room was to the back and very quiet, even with the window open all night.
The desk was always helpful and always polite. Even offered a light breakfast when we left before the kitchen opened.
Wonderful breakfast on the 7th floor with a nice view. A good selection of eggs, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, cereals and different breads/pastries. Many different coffees (espresso to cafe latte). We loved the cappuccino, but our friends hated the regular coffee (too bitter and strong).
The elevator is small and a little claustrophobic, room for 4 thin people without luggage.
The hotel is a 20 min metro ride to the center of town. And the metro is literally right outside the door (we didn't get wet in the downpour). Easy enough to just pop down and go wherever. However, there is a very nice shopping center right up the road (5 min) and another 10 min walking. Very nice stores. The Spanish department store is a few metro stops away.
All in all, a wonderful hotel with courteous staff and even better if you get the right room :)

Based on good Trip Advisor reviews we booked this hotel for early Feb 2001. Due to ice storm delay in New York we had to cancel the reservation and attempt to make a new reservation. Our reservations were made through Hotels.com and were confirmed. As we were unable to make a revised reservation we advised America Diamonds through Hotels.com and received a confirmation of same. We subsequently reserved at the Hotel Lutecia and were quite pleased with our stay.
Upon our arrival back from Europe we noticed that America Diamond had made a charge against our credit card for late arrival.Hotels.com again confirmed that the proper cancellation and rebooking attempt had been made and promised to resolve the issue. Our e mails to the Hotel asking for resolution were never answered. After several months trying to resolve this with Hotels.com we were promised compensation in the form of a $100 travel voucher. More months later we were told that we no longer were to receive the voucher. Bottom line, neither the Hotel nor Hotels.com have resolved this unjust charge nor the inconvenience and confusion.
What kind of customer service is this? Do be careful when using the booking services of this Hotel and Hotels.com
