Just back from 3 nights at the Grande Pensao Residencial Alcobia with a group of girlfriends. The hotel is just in the right place to explore from, the aerobus bus stops just around the corner (cost 3.50 euros). The rooms are clean and very nicely decorated and the bathroom we had was a good size. I found the bed to be very comfortable too. Our group had a total of 6 rooms and all but 1 had views of the castle and a few had balconies. The breakfast was fine, the usual breads, croissants, hams, cheese, a few cereals, biscuits, juices and tea or coffee. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly and speak very good English. The breakfast staff were very discreet and smiley. Lisbon itself is gorgeous. The yellow buse tours are a must, you can hop on hop off along the routes to take in the attractions. Also, the old tram trip takes you through the narrow streets of old Lisbon and is lovely. The yellow buses starting point is about 5 mins walk from the hotel, Castle Don Jorge 10 mins, Rossio square 2 mins, the elevator 5 mins. everything is on your doorstep if it's not there's bus to get you to where you want to go.

We stayed for 4 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was great apart from the noise from the street with the rubbish removals and the trams but you get used to them. There is a lift but it is on the 1st floor and there are steep stairs to the lift. The breakfast was lovely. The area is in perfect walking distance to the shopping and restaurants. Would stay there again.

This was the first stop on a two week tour of Portugal. The location of the hotel is handy and the staff are friendly.

However, there is a fairly steep step of stairs to the elevator which is actually on the second floor American. Quite a bit of street noise can be heard even with the windows shut throughout most of the night though if you do enough walking you'll be so tired it won't matter! All in all we we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when in Lisbon.

We travelled as a group and we had 3 rooms at the 3rd floor. Our room was facing the street and it has a nice view towards the castle. It is a little noisy in the morning because you can hear the trams even if you close the window, but we were too tired to be bothered by this. :)
The furniture is basic, but I guess you couldn't expect too much from a residence. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was very clean. The bathroom was also spacious and very clean. We enjoyed our stay at Alcobia because of its great position: 2 minutes to Praca Figueira (cafes, yellow bus, metro station, shops, etc) so for a city break it was a great deal.
The breakfast was very basic but for us it was ok: yogurt, cereals, 2 kinds of meat and some cheese as well as jam and butter. They didn't have any fruits unfortunatelly but there is a supermaket across the streets where you can buy them.
The reception ladies were very freindly.

All in all, it is a great place to stay when visiting Lisbon so I highly recommend it.
