This was my first visit to Lisbon and the Olissippo was actually booked through my work. It seems to be in the heart of everything. Out the door and directly behind is the water and a great place to walk along. The mall is about a 2 minute walk and the train, bus, subway and tour buses are literally the same distance. It is a beautiful hotel with an excellent breakfast buffet. and very nice staff. Well worth the money. My only concern and it is minor, is there is no amenities in the room. No iron, no coffee maker, no hairdryer. So pack them if you need them but would not hesitate to stay again, and actually do.

this area was renovated for the expo 98. Modern buildings, casino, shopping, aquarium,panoramic cable car and 2.5 km away from airport. The hotel is fantastic. modern decoration perfect comfortable rooms and great staff. Parking costs 9.40 (24 hours). Breakfast if not great is fair enough. Not close at all to city center, but a quick train ride gets you there.

This is my third time at the Olissippo Oriente. I come here on business fairly regularly and it really hits the mark.

First the location. Oriente literally means east and no surprise therefore that it is on the East (slightly North) of the city. It is in the heart of a redeveloped area which was virtually built from the Ground-up for the Expo (World Fair) in 1998. So you are not in a quaint historic part of the city with old buildings and a feeling of history. For that chose somehwere else. However, because of the redevelopment, it has excellent transportation hubs close by including walking distance to the rail and Metro system. It also has the Oceanarium nearby and a really cool cable car which you can ride up and down the expo site next to the river. It also has a huge shopping mall and many restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel itself sits right in the middle of a range of tower blocks but never feels claustrophabic. The entrance is covered and leads into a light marbelled reception. The staff are really friendly (well they are Portuguese and it is a national characteristic) and will help with the smallest problem. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant (not eaten in the restaurant though). What I really like is it also has a Coffee shop which serves light meals, snacks and cakes. I find this good when travelling alone and not wanting to sit in a restaurant.

The rooms I have stayed in have always been clean, and spacious. The bathrooms are clean with good hot water and good shower water-pressure. Internet access is cabled and fast. The TV has a range of multi-lingual channels and some good English language channels for thise times you are tired and bed seems the best option!!.

So for me, absolutely no negatives so far and no inclination to stay elsewhere whilst on business.

The quality of hotel and it's location made my business trip one of the most comfortable I've had. The rooms were spacious, the staff incredibly helpful and flexible with requests, the breakfasts very satisfying (although for lunches and dinner, I was thankful for the many options outside of the hotel; the hotel food was a bit pricey and didn't offer much of a variety), the internet suitably fast (bit disappointed that it wasn't wireless and that the cable was so short, but the speed made up for that)... and the location adds even more positivity. The proximity to the shopping mall (which closed at midnight to my delight :)) and eating establishments was ideal, because I could get a brief walk in before and after dinners. The hotel is next door to all the other things in Oriente that's good to see and do... ocenarium, cable car, pavillions, Parque das Nações... it's not in downtown Lisbon, but it's close enough. All-in-all a great experience... I'd come back!
