“Avoid, Avoid, Avoid”

WE CHECKED IN LAST SAT FOR A 3 NIGHT BREAK-what a dump of a hotel-rooms are very basic and carpets are worn and rugged-we requested room change and were given a worse room so we returned to 1st room-breakfast is basic-i recommend toasting the brown bread-internet access is 1 euro for 10 mins-not 3 euro's like what we were told by staff. the advertised bar was a vending machine behind reception-and when we misplaced keycard in room and went looking for it-we found a pair of grotty shoes under the bed-not ours. the highlight of this hotel was that taxi arrived early to take us to airport-you've been warned!!!but 2 members of staff were helpful!

“Clean, Good Location, Cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2009

Stayed there for three nights, and I would return. The rooms are small and the bathroom too,but they are clean. The breakfast is enought and the staffs are helpfull. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel where you can take a bus and get in the city centre less than 15 min.

“Very good value for the money”

Although only rated as 3 star, the Residencial Princesa turned out to be a pleasant surprise and very good value for the money.
The room was clean and OK in all respects, except maybe for a bit of noise from neighbouring bathrooms. The breakfast was fine too, but only cold stuff - i.e. no eggs and bacon.
Although we arrived at 11 am, we got the room right away. And when we left, we were allowed to check out at 1 pm. instead of at noon. This may of course be different, when the hotel is full, but the staff showed a flexibility that is not found everywhere - or at least not for free.
The hotel is located a mile or so from the city centre in a rather quiet part of town. There are plenty of cafés and some restaurants in the neighbourhood. Bus 790 stops right outside the door and will take you straight to the downtown area.

“Unbelievable room !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2008

Don't stay in Room 211. One of the worse I have ever stayed in.. Small dark and poky but the worse aspect of it was there was no adequate means of escape in case of fire ! Frosted glass and a locked door at the back of the room which was full of condensation in the mornings..Perhaps they intended this to put the fire out ? No means of getting fresh air into the room
Very small room, no plugs for the bath or the sink even after asking for them. Had to to hold the shower head in my hand which which then flooded the floor, No wonder there was mould and to cap it all the loo seat was loose.

“The house that Jack built”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2008

We stayed here for the start and end of our break in Portugal. The room we stayed in the first night was smaller than my trailer tent!! The bathroom was so small we could sit on the loo and clean our teeth at the same time!! there was also mould on the wall of the bathroom , the fan didn't work and the door was rotten.
The location isn't that good either it's quite a walk to the nearest Metro although we used the bus to get into the centre and used the Metro from there.
Our second stay was a bit better in that the room was slightly bigger and the fan worked in the bathroom. We won't be rushing back to this establishment.

  • Liked — The reception staff spoke english
  • Disliked — Small scruffy rooms
