This is one of those Lisbon hotels which shares the premises with other businesses and I think some residential apartments. Our room was clean and recently decorated with a spotless bathroom but the public parts shared with the other businesses were awful. The stairwell was dark and dirty with lightbulbs missing and some broken windowpanes in the stairwell lights. The single lift was inadequate for the amount of traffic. The hotel reception and bar were in a dingy basement which was a bit offputting when you first arrived, although the recetionist was a mosr charming gentleman with very good English. In the week we spent there I didn't see anyone in the bar. The breakfast room however was a pleasant space on the 3rd floor with a balcony and like the hotel the breakfast was basic but perfectly fine. Some people have complained about having to ask for tea. I found that the tea came quickly and was freshly made in a pot with boiling water, a bonus for us English people who like proper tea rather than a cup of tepid water with a tea bag wafted over it.
The best thing about the hotel was the location. A metro station was right across the road and Marques de Pombal Square was five minutes away. The hotel was right next to Parque Eduardo V11, where we found a pleasnt open bar bar to relax.
