“Worth every penny”

On arrival our reception was very good, the Hotel was very good but was under used by other guests. The restaurant was first class and the bar and pool area spotless. There are a number of staff that were very good but the best were Fatama, Manuel & Pedro and bar staff...and Henrique on reception. We would return here anytime.

Room Tip: 21 euros for 3 course meal with a drink Ala Cart!

“Wonderful, be sure to get room 123”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

My father had passed away in Setubal and I had to make an emergency trip from San Diego to Portugal last Saturday. I decided to stay here because of the location and the beach. Upon arrival at 9.30am I asked the fron t desk clerk if I could check in and he said that check in was at 2pm. I had mentioned that I was here to bury my father today at 3.30pm and that I needed somewhere to freshen up and change for the funeral. He was extremely nice and put me up immediately in room 123, which is a suite facing the ocean with the biggest balcony on the property. The suite had a nice large livingroom with a queen couch bed and two small couches (which you could put together and turn into a bed). The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub/shower, a bidet two sinks and a toilet. They all were clean. Clean towels and plenty of soap, shampoo and other stuff.
The bedroom had a king size bed and a door to the balcony/patio which was huge. It had a table and 4 chairs on it. The bedroom was also very clean and had a safe(that didn't work) and both the bedroom and livingroom had flat screen tvs.
The hotel staff were amazing and very helpful. I had a massage that only cost me 30Euros. The free breakfast in the morning is well worth taking advantage of to start your day. Coffee, danishes, toast, cereal, juices, scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon.
The pool is nice, (only problem was pool attendant wouldn't let us have two towels each...rather silly) and the rest of the property is clean and very modern looking.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes comfort and clean rooms. You must splurge and get the best room on the place and get suite 123. I was there 3 nights and my sister came to stay with me and she decided to stay there for another week. Infact she's still there now .... at time of this review. The cost was 100Euros per night, which is well worth it. Hope this review helps as I didn't know why some of them were bad.

“Dirty and uncomfortable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

We expected this hotel to be fantastic. Beautiful area, but once inside the room I could not believe my eyes. The bathroom had mold on the walls, the walls of the room were dirty and I think they forgot to put a mattress on the bed it was like sleeping on a box spring. I actually chose to sleep on the floor! Will never stay there again and I recommend you don't either.

“Despite reviews this was a nice hotel”

We booked this hotel for a long weekend stay and after reading reviews, I was nervous. Costa da Caparica is a large European hotel across the road from a stunning beach. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped us arrange a suprise night out for our friend's birthday with taxis, locations, the lot. Anything we wanted, they helped us with. The rooms were very clean and large enough, the bathrooms could have done with modernising a bit, but the shower was excellent in our room and always spotless. The reception areas were immaculate. The pool was clean and very well attended with loads of fresh and clean towels each day to use.

There is a bar on site, which was only slightly more expensive than the bars on the beach but considering how close the beach is and all the bars and restaurants on the beach, it didn't really matter as we generally only had one drink there before venturing out.

This is a European hotel in a European area, if you are expecting to go on holiday here and have bacon and eggs for breakfast and pie and mash for dinner, then this is not the resort for you. This is a beautiful Portugese resort with a range of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants all serving local food. The hotel staff arranged our trip into Lisbon, which was stunning and highly recommended.

We found the staff approachable, friendly and incredibly helpful with everything. The hotel could probably do with a bit of a overhaul in some rooms but nothing major and 6 of us staying here really couldn't fault this hotel or location at all and had the most wonderful 5 days here.

“One and Done”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2010

After 4 fabulous days on Sao Miguel, we (two couples) our next stop was the Costa, which on the internet looked wornderful. Not! At check in, we had to dodge a bunch of 10 year olds playing soccer in the lobby. The place was a zoo and that was at 5:00PM. We so disappointed that, 4 hours later on a Saturday evening, we rebooked the remainder of our week's stay at the Sheraton in Lisbon. The Costa's rooms were dingy with worn out carpets and what was supposedly a double bed was actually two rock-hard singles pushed together. The 5th floor room had a small balcony that overlooked the rear of several run down tenements, complete with barking dogs and old rusty cars. The breakfast buffet? Don't even bother. I've never seen such dark sludge trying to pass as coffee. The best thing I can say is that the desk clerk was actually quite helpful. He arranged for a van-sized cab out, didn't give us any grief at all when we checked out Sunday morning and only charged us for the one night we actually stayed. By the way, our time at the Sheraton was great and we really enjoyed Lisbon. Lesson learned, if you get somewhere and you're not happy, don't stay.
