If you are going to a conference or meeting at the Centro do Congresos, this is a good place to stay. The Centro do Congresos is only a few minutes walk away. Otherwise, I would not recommend it for other purposes.
As noted in other reviews it is located under the 25 de Abril suspension bridge which carries heavy traffic in cars, trucks and trains 24 hours. That noise did not reach the rooms we had on the fourth floor.
The location is not ideal in the least. There is one small neighborhood cafe up the street, a snack bar on the main street and one restaurant a few blocks away on the main street. The hotel does have a restaurant, but the service was extremely slow for dinner as the restaurant is understaffed. Food arrived cold or barely warm each time we ate there, but it was very good. There is no grocery store or mini-mart within walking distance. There are excellent restaurants in the docks area literally a few hundred feet from the hotel, but reaching them requires a 1/2 mile walk or taking a taxi as they are on the other side of a busy highway and railroad with no walking access. As noted in other reviews, trams and buses to other areas are only a few blocks away.
Breakfast is a high point for the hotel. Very diverse and very good.
There is no WiFi in the hotel rooms, and it costs to use it in the reception area. The internet access in the room is Ethernet, and it also costs.
The reception staff is very courteous, helpful and all spoke English. The hotel is however understaffed in this area. Both check-in and check-out took far more time than should occur. Often the reception personnel were busy and long waits required for assistance. At such times the phone also does not get answered very promptly.
Beds were comfortable, but we prefer firm beds and other guests may not. Baths were well appointed. The hotel has a health club with pool, jacuzzi, workout room, but at 11 euros a visit.
Portugal in general needs to learn that visitors from the US and UK do not eat at 7:30 at night (actually it will be much later in this hotel's restaurant due to the slow service). There are alternatives a short bus or tram ride, however most restaurants do not open until 7, 7:30 or 8 PM. There are cafeterias which offer sandwiches, quiches and pastries, and a few with more diverse offerings, and open most of the day including for early dinner.
Room Tip: Rooms on the west side are less noisy.
